The name stuck and the town became an agricultural center with various crops being grown including wheat, corn, soybeans, oats and hay. In 1957, a paper mill was built in Glenpool that continued production until 1984 when it closed due to economic reasons. In 2000-2001, a new shopping mall called "The Square" was built on the site of the old paper mill which included employment opportunities for locals and businesses alike.
