The post office remained in operation until 1967 when it closed due to population growth and lack of space.

The Largest employer in Glenpool is the Jones-Boyd Glass Company which employs over 200 people. The economy of Glenpool is based on agriculture and manufacturing. Glenpool was founded in 1901 by John Denton and his family as a drive-in movie theater opened on Utopia Boulevard adjacent to their farmstead. In 1904, Denton married Emma Cook and the couple moved to Glenpool from Muskogee to take up farming there with their son John Hodge Cook II soon after they divorced. By 1907, they had five children: Clarence (Clarence), Gladys (Gladys), Hazel (Hazel), Loretta (Loretta) and Royce (Royce). Their first home was a log cabin that still stands today on Park Avenue about one mile west of present day Glenpool Village center across from the original post office building which served as their farmstead until it burned down in 1944; however, most of what remains from this early Glenn Pool community can be seen within old timers homes northeast of Village Hall circa 1930s or so including Clarens’ garage where early movies were rented back then before being stored behind glass now used for storage/garage space In 1911 when NW OK Micropolitan Statistical Area was created there were only two towns in Noble County - Shawnee Mission and Glendale - so when existing townspeople voted to annex nearby Plant City on October 1st 1912 following an annexation election held November 3rd of that same year all but one resident living within Plant City petitioned for incorporation into Glenpool also effective December 15th 1912 becoming citizens number 2288 thus joining hand with fellow new townswomen Glendale who had already been incorporated at that time forming what would eventually become known as “the Twin Cities” even though their boundaries never really coincided with those of either Shawnee Mission or Glendale The post office at this point continued serving both towns until 1915 when it changed its name to Rogersville after James Rogers who lived just east of present day village hall prior to his death in 1915 In 1916 Cherokee Nation Indian Agent General William Worthy traveled through Noble County visiting many small towns during his "Cherokee Nation Tour" culminating with a visit to Glenpool where he ordered all residents inside the post office buildings between 9pm-6am for inspection purposes along with any firearms not registered with him outside those hours while also providing food and drink for all inhabitants Following General Worthy's visit local farmers decided it would be more efficient if instead of having one main mail route they started splitting mail into several smaller routes which proved convenient especially since postal rates increased again starting January 1st 1917 due mainly to World War I lack thereof among other things This new arrangement lasted until late 1918 when most everyone decided they wanted back their old single mail route again combined wit' Postmaster Joe Marshall's efforts beginning February 17th 1919 continuing until May 6th 1923 when consolidated routing finally began anew becoming known as "the Main Street System" because essentially everything north of US 70 became partof Tulsa area USPS jurisdiction without ever going through either Shawano or Nacogdoches territory like it had during earlier times The newly unified USPS district includedGlenPool officially on July 16th 1923 despite initially lacking any street numbers leading up thereto such as Utopia Boulevard which remained tribal land owned by Indians subject only to tribal law no matter how much some residents may have wanted/needed access thereto It wasn't long before jobs closed down throughout Tulsa accompanying World War II followed by postwar austerity measures resulting in organized crime taking control particularly aroundOKC Warehouse District leaving fewer jobless Oklahomans than before while more open areas such as downtownOklahoma City enjoyed relatively high levels cf prosperity thanks largelyo market forces during this time period although closures did continue well into the 21st century once recently vacated federal housing properties came onto market etc.) During prohibition years bootlegging took place primarily along US 71 & 190 near present day Claremore okla where various businesses got start including Alibi Liquor Store #1 operated by German American entrepreneur Emil Fischer whose partner Norman Sperry ran another liquor store next door located opposite Fischer's house Canal Life Insurance Building later developed into what is now Midtown Mallonee Drive Apartments built 1984-1985 across busy Claremore Road from then defunct Raddison Drug Store operated by Cactus Gaming Enterprises Incorporated president Paddy Kelleher aka Big Daddy Kane formerly associated w/other major nightclubs mentioned supraowned outright by Paddy Kelleher & associates prior thereto including numerous construction sites involved w/early stage redevelopment projects happening concurrently here including One Man's Dreamland Casino off McLennan Road leased from Fox Oil plc originally operated courtesy DMZ Development Co., Ltd./Paddy Kelleher associate Gordon Parks pic below) From Op Ed Feb '67 p4 column go pg 292 thru 281

Glenpool is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. It was founded in 1881 by James and Fannie McClendon. The town name is derived from the Shawnee word "glen Pool," meaning a clear stream. The McClendon brothers built a log cabin on the edge of the pool where they raised hogs and chickens. In 1885, the McClendons moved to McAlester, Kansas, but their son James stayed behind to help his father run the farm and ranch there. In 1889, James married his first wife Carrie; they had two children before she died in 1901. He then married Celine Goudreau in 1903 and they had four children. From 1907 until his death in 1945, James was county treasurer for Haskell County. After his death, one of his daughters served as county treasurer from 1945 until her retirement in 1978; another daughter served from 1978 until her death in 1984. In 1948, Glenpool became an unincorporated community within Haskell County; it has since been annexed by McAlester.
