Glenpool is a town in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The community was named after General John G. Glenpool, who fought in the American Civil War and served as a brigadier general in the Union army. The first settler to arrive in what is now Glenpool was George Washington Fields, who arrived on July 6, 1881. He platted a townsite and named it after General John G. Glenpool of the Union army who had fought in the American Civil War and also received an Oscar for his acting abilities at Richmond theatre in New York City.Fields built one of three hotels which would serveglenpool for over 50 years until it burned down on October 3, 1907 The Glenn Pool Grain Elevator opened its doors to business on December 12th & 15th 1909 just south of town square with local farmer Jno A Hinkle leading the way Glenn Pool had 2 post offices - one located east of town square and operated from 1912-1915 while another office located west of town square from 1916-1920 From 1926-1947 there was only one store open until that store closed due to coal dust problems . In 1951 Glenpool had their own telephone line with phone numbers 545-2255 (now Rogers) In 1957 when Tulsa merged with Oklahoma City they annexed much of Stephens County including Glenpool making it part of Tulsa proper

Glenpool was a small town in Noble County, Oklahoma, until the early 1920s. It is now part of Tulsa. Glenpool was founded in 1881 by John Glenn and his family. The Glenn family, who were farmers and ranchers, operated a sawmill and gristmill here for many years. In 1907, the Glenn family sold their holdings to J.B. Tate which led to the name change to Tate Glenpool in 1918. The town's population peaked at approximately 1,500 in the early 1920s but declined as oil production increased in neighboring towns. By 1929, Glenpool had only 100 residents remaining and it officially ceased operations that year. The last resident of Glenpool died in 1944.
Glenpool was founded in 1907 by J.D. Houston and his father, George Houston. The Houston family had a log cabin on the edge of what is now Glenpool Lake. In 1912, they moved to what is now the city of Tulsa and started a grocery store there which became the largest in town. In 1918, the family bought an old flour mill in Glenpool and began manufacturing flour for local markets. In 1949, they acquired an other grocery store in downtown Tulsa from their predecessor company and renamed it The Glenn Pool Store. They operated their stores until 1981 when they sold their assets to fend-off bankruptcy.
