When you walk into the Elk City Coffee Company, it feels like a relic from a bygone era. The building, built in 1922, is an old frame house that has been converted into a coffee shop. The first Elk City Coffee Company was opened in 1912 by Harry and Bea Dickson. The company was based in Tulsa and produced ground coffee for local businesses. In 1937, the company relocated to Elk City and continued to produce ground coffee until it closed its doors in 1984. The current owner of the business is Norma Hines, who started working at the store as a checkout girl in 1990. Norma has beenaypcoffeehouse since 1997, when she purchased the store from her husband Tom Hines. At present, Norma operates the store on a day-to-day basis with help from her daughter Jackie and son Timo. It's not easy being an artisan coffee retailer -Norma has to deal with all sorts of unique challenges every day: grinders that need cleaning regularly due to their oils; customers who appreciate quality over quantity; high demand during peak times; and difficult competition from chain stores that offer more varieties of coffee than ever before. The Elk City area was first settled in the early 1800s. The town was named after a large oak tree that stood in the center of the town. The community started as a small farming village and grew to become an important trading center for the region. By the early 1900s, Elm Creek had formed and Elk City became an important manufacturing center for coffee beans. Coffee beans were exported to many countries and helped support local businesses. In the 1960s, Elm Creek was diverted and became Elk River, which made it difficult for people to access water resources. This caused significant economic decline in Elk City until recent years when efforts have been made to redevelop the area.
Elk City is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Haskell County and is bordered by New Mexico to the east, Texas to the south and west, and Haskell County to the north. Elk City is named after a nearby mountain peak. The town began as a small Methodist settlement in 1885. It grew rapidly during World War I due to its proximity to military bases and its production of munitions for the war effort. In 1925, Elk City became an incorporated municipality under state law. The population had grown to 1,600 by 1930 when it merged with neighboring towns of Bearden and Stillwater. The post office closed in 1939 but the community continued growing until it reached its current size of 602 people in 1990. The coffee industry has always been around, with different methods and regions producing different varieties of coffee. However, the coffee that we know today originated from two specific areas: Ethiopia and Java. In Ethiopia, a certain type of coffee was grown which is known as Awash. This coffee is roasted in Sumatra, then exported to other regions such as Europe and America. Likewise, Java produces its own unique cup of java which is often called “Java Coffee” or “West Coast Coffee”. Both types of coffee are very important in the history of the coffee industry because they each had a significant impact on who drank it and where it was produced.Awash Coffee represents an early attempt at developing a standardized bean form for shipment across country borders; this allows traders to purchase beans more cheaply from different parts of the world while still being able to produce consistent quality beans. The Awash Coffee also played an important role in developing the first espresso machines by allowing brewers access to a wider range of flavors and notes within their coffeeshapes than could be achieved through other methods. Java Coffee emerged as a result of multiple factors including rising prices for Arabica beans (which were then worth far more than Robusta) due to technological advances during World War II, new demand for caffeine after reconstruction efforts began following World War II, and increased interest in Indonesian coffees due to their unique flavor profile

Elk City is a town in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Elk City was founded on May 20, 1889, by George W. Hinton and James A. Cunningham as a settlement for stock raisers on the Arkansas River about 12 miles (19 km) east of present-day Tulsa. The townsite was named after an elk that had been killed near Wichita Falls, Texas two years earlier. The first post office in Elk City opened in 1890 and remained in operation until 1907. The first store in town was built by John Ewing and J.F King in 1892; it closed in 1916 because of economic decline around the time World War I began to affect America's agricultural production interests at home and abroad. In 1899, Elk City established itself as a city with its own school board and mayoralty style government under Mayor John Prentice; however, this form of government did not last long because it competed with Tulsa for business and development opportunities during the early 1900s boomtown era that followed American entry into World War I (1914-18). By 1923, Elmira Avenue had become one of downtown's most popular shopping streets due to its abundance of local fine art dealers as well as being close to several banks and other commercial establishments offering services such as banking not available elsewhere within walking distance or minutes' ride from any door entrance or exit on Elmira Avenue alone—something unheard of prior to that time anywhere else within Stephens County! In 1941 when World War II began affecting American society economically more adversely than ever before due to belligerent European nations engaging militarily against each other across oceans instead of managing their economies like they had done previously through peaceful means since 1871 when America became a republic), Elk City’s mayor pro tem Abel Cushing called for the city’s military might “to furnish necessary munitions for our war effort” which resulted in then-Mayor Edwin Holtzclaw entering into an agreement with General Motors Corporation (GM) whereby GM would provide 100% financing secured by GM assets located within Elkcity limits for use during wartime; GM also agreed to make all civilian employees who were needed within city limits available for military service without having to leave their jobs! This unprecedented move allowed citizens throughout Stephens County who could lay down their lives defending their homes country side without fear any reprisal from those who opposed them while simultaneously giving these same citizens something they desired/needed most: employment! This event helped spark what would become known locally as "the great Wall Street Scare" which peaked between 1945-1950 where numerous businesses throughout town closed their doors altogether due primarily to nationwide rationing of goods unable along with prices going up 50%, 60%, even 70%. Businesses reopened upon reopening exemption letters being issued guaranteeing limited availability but many others simply ceased operations again like its predecessor variant followingWWII just before returning back into full swing globally once Germany surrendered unconditionally on September 2nd1945!!! Afterward much smaller job shops reopened initially only lasting until late 1949 or early 1950 otherwise becoming mom & pop businesses again reflecting COVIDACIOUSONS OF THE SURPRISINGLY LOW Rationing Levels administered nationally thru Gov't Agencies!! Elk City is a city in and the county seat of Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 24,771 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Elk City was founded in 1887 as a small town on the Elk River by settlers from Arkansas. The first post office was established in 1887 and named for John Aiken, an early settler. In 1907, Elk City became a city when it annexed parts of neighboring towns, including Owsley and Kipling. The name "Elk City" was chosen because of its location upstream from any other major settlement on the Elk River watershed. In 1912, Elks ranchers founded what would become Wichita State University in nearby Wichita Falls and developed it into one of North Texas' largest universities. Wichita State's football team (now known asthe Kansas Wildcats) played their first game at Elmira Park in 1911 under head coach George Hinkleman
