Durant was born in 1921 to Oklahoma parents, George and Nellie Durant. He attended high school at Haskell School, where he played football and basketball for the school's varsity team. Durant then attended the University of Kansas under coach Rick Majerus, who coached him on the varsity men's basketball team. After two years of play on Majerus' team, Durant was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round (seventh overall) of the 1948 NBA draft. Durant won a total of 10 MVP Awards during his career with the Cavs, including 7 consecut years from 1961-1969. After his retirement from playing professional basketball in 1973, he became a businessman and philanthropist who has spent over $200 million dollars on various causes throughout his life. In recognition of his achievements as an athlete and businessperson, Durant was inducted into The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984.

Durant was born on December 8, 1985, in Durant, Oklahoma. He is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Durant attended Glenbrook South High School in Glenbrook Park, Illinois before being transferring to Oklahoma City University where he played for coach Rick Majerus' team from 2003-2005. In 2007-2008, he led OKC to the NBA Finals where they lost to the Miami Heat. After that years NBA season, Durant transferred to California's Gonzaga Bulldogs and helped them win the NCAA title in 2009. From there, he transferred back to Oklahoma City and became an All-Star with the Warriors.
