The first coffee shop in Del City opened in 1941 and was called the Koffee Klatch. In 1945, a small grocery store named The Fords began selling coffee from a truck on Main Street. In 1951, a store called Dutch Bros. opened and became popular for its fresh beans and unique flavors of coffee. By 1957, there were three stores operating in Del City; Dutch Bros., The Fords, and The Coffee Shop. This growth led to more business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and provided a strong foundation for future coffee businesses.
Del City is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stephens County. The city was founded in 1881 by George W. Maynard and developed around the railroad station on the Del City Railroad. The city motto is "Erected to Progress." The original town site was located on what is now Ulysses S. Grant Boulevard east of I-40 and north of US-58 (now State Highway 281). In 1881, George W. Maynard donated land for a town site on what are now Easton Road and MacNeil Road north of I-40 and east of US-580 (now State Highway 281A). In that year, the first post office opened in Del City with five residents serving as mail carriers from their homes over several days during early November. In 1893, a school district was formed out of parts of three existing towns: Maynardville (northwest corner of Easton Road and MacNeil Road), Mound City (southwest corner of Mac Neil Road and Grant Boulevard), and Springtown (east side of Grant Boulevard between Easton Road and US-580). That same year, both the main line from Wichita to Tulsa via Haskell were completed through Del City with trains stopping twice daily at the depot located south of downtown on Elm Street; this made it an important market for farmers adjacent to the tracks who transported goods downriver by boat or barges to local merchants near present day Lawton before being shipped back upriver again using horseboats or steamboats across Lake Texoma before arriving in Wichita again. In 1902, when Oklahoma became a state, Del City incorporated as a town under new laws passed by then Governor James Benge; it had about 1,000 residents when its incorporation took place. On December 4th 1903 – just two years after becoming part of Stephens County – citizens voted 3–2 to rename themselves "DelCity" after banker/real estate developer Charles Haddon Day who had given $10 towards its funding campaign plus interest free loans from his firm day & night until it reached $50able status; he also contributed another $10 towards construction costs which included building access roads such as Elm Street into which cars could be parked for free inside the new town limits while shoppers walked outside without fear they would get lost or stolen cars driving away empty - this indeed created one major source Of Commerce & Development For Early Days Of DelCity! During World War II (1939-1945) much industry shifted from Wichita to Tulsa due to shortages caused by rationing policies set in place following Pearl Harbor; since Stephens County lay within OKLAHOMA territory federal troops barracks were established there until 1949 when they moved south into Payne County where they remain today as Fort Meade Military Base - leading many people Dubious As To Why This Happened Especially After Over 50 Years Since Those Barracks Were First Opened However Many Still Believe They Were Simply relocated To Avoid Being Next! Downtown businesses continued functioning unaffected although most production ceased until well after war’s end when resources began flowing back home again thanks largely to post WWII boom & bust era growth throughout OKLAHOMA area especially in Tulsa which experienced massive job growth followed by consistent steady economic development culminating with current population size greater than any other city save Tulsa itself! Del City is a town in Noble County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. The first settlers of Del City were farmers who moved to the area in the early 1870s. In 1881, the Central Pacific Railroad built a line through Noble County and Del City became one of its original stations. The railroad left Del City in 1966 and it has been an agricultural community ever since. The town was founded on October 20, 1881 by John A. Fenton and his wife Lillie Gentry Fenton. The first post office opened in 1882 and was called Myrtlerville after Mrs. Fenton's mother-in-law, Myrtle Bemis (née Holt). At that time it consisted of just a few homes and two stores. By 1886, there were 4 businesses in town including 2 hotelkeepers/motels and 2 hatters/ivery drivers handled by Wm Jarrells & Bros.. In 1907 there were 10 businesses with a total population of over 100 people! In 1916, when Oklahoma became a state, Del City became part of Noble County government as well as being incorporated into the larger city of Tulsa metropolitan area which at that time had a population of over 600,000 people! With this increase in population came an increase in business opportunities for residents of both towns so much so that they began to adopt nicknames such as "The Big Apple" or "Town Beautiful". In 1930 Del City had a total population of 553 with only 90 residences! However during World War II it grew rapidly due to its location near Tulsa Army Airfield which housed more than 7500 military personnel from all over America! As Tulsa grew Rapidly To accommodation for these troops new housing developments sprang up throughout downtown Tulsa making room for yet another influx Of People To Add To The already growing Neighborhood Of DelCity!
