In the late 1920s, The Coffee Shop Irvine purchased the property at 9th and Elm streets from Mr. Daly's widow and began operations as a roastery and cafe. In 1964, Mrs. Daly donated her multiple propertiesincluding 3 blocks east of 9th Streetand 2 blocks north of 5th Streetto Claremore State University for its new student center and library which became known as "The Coffee Shop on Elm". In 1969, The Coffee Shop moved its production to an old creamery on Main street which they continued to operate until it closed in 1984. In 1990, The Coffee Shop announced their intention to close due to financial difficulties butThankfully they reopened in 1994 under new management with help from citizens who raised money through a public fundraising campaign"Brewing our own coffee"

In 1912, Dutch entrepreneur Hugo De Haan founded a company that would become known as Dunkin’ Donuts, based on his purchase of two machines used by Pierre Boston at his bakery in Newark,NJ. By 1938, Dunkin' Donuts had opened its first restaurant in New York City and began serving java hot dogs with all different types of syrups and toppings including vanilla orchids and whipped cream. In 1951, donut mogul Jerry Lewis became one of the first people to own a franchise with Dunkin' Donuts stores throughout North America. From there Lewis would go on to create many other successful franchises such as KFCand Taco Bell
