Choctaw, Oklahoma is a small town in east-central Oklahoma that has been home to the military since World War II. The Choctaw Army National Guard and the Choctaw Air National Guard both serve in the U.S. Military. There are also several units of the Oklahoma State Troopers assigned to military duty in Choctaw County. The Choctaw Nation was first organized as an Indian nation in 1907 by Chief Red Cloud and other chiefs from the Pushmataha and Seminole nations. The Choctaws were forced out of their ancestral land by white settlers in 1871 and were relocated to what is now Choctaw County. After being relocated, the Choctaws lost much of their cultural heritage, including their traditional music, dance and ways of life. In World War II, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and America declared war on Japan days later. The United States Congress passed a resolution authorizing President Franklin D Roosevelt to call up all available forces for wartime service within 72 hours of notification. The United States Marine Corps was called into action immediately with orders to occupy whatever islands Japanese forces might have landed on in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The military effort began with air bombardment of Japanese positions around Okinawa Island before troops landed on mainland Japan to take control of key strategic locations such as Kobe City and Nagasaki Airport (now Hiroshima). The occupation lasted until 1946 when Japan surrendered unconditionally due to American pressure following its surrender at Tokyo Bay - one month after September 11th attacks which left over 2,000 Americans dead or missing in New York City alone! As a result of World War II, there were many changes for the American civilian population living near combat zones such as Choctaw County where large numbers of soldiers barracks were built throughout eastern Oklahoma during 1945-1946 as well as inland Texas where Confederate forces had retreated after fighting at Houston Heights during World War I (thus beginning Reconstruction). This large influx of enlisted men led eventually to social unrest among some native citizens who felt they had not been properly compensated for services rendered during wartime while others saw it as opportunity for economic development given recent advances in technology combined with increasing international trade opportunities (see: "Oklahoma History: A Timeline" link below). The Choctaw Nation was founded in 1836 by the Choctaw people. The first military unit known as the Choctaw Volunteer Infantry was organized in 1890, and served until 1898. In 1907, the Oklahoma Territory was created, and the Choctaw nation became a part of that territory. The first World War I military service of the Choctaw nation came in 1917 when they joined the American Expeditionary Forces. They participated in both wars but lost all their soldiers. After World War II, the Choctaw nation helped form the United States Department of Agriculture in 1946. In 1958, they were called to serve as consultants on a project to relocate American Indian tribes into new reservations in Oklahoma and Arizona.

The Choctaw Nation was established in 1819 by Chief Caddo and consisted of about 5,000 people. The Choctaws were forcibly removed from their land in 1907 and resettled on an Indian reservation in what is now eastern Arkansas. In 1912, the tribe united with other Creek nations to form the American Indian Movement (AIM). In 1915, Oklahoma proposed a bill that would make all Native Americans citizens of Oklahoma only if they agreed to adopt certain white-only rules as part of their admission process into the state. A group ofCHOCTAW voted against the bill; however, it failed to gain passage in the legislature. In response to this rejection, AIM organized a series of protests known as "the Great March on Norman." On July 20th–21st 1916, more than 100 CHOCTAW laid down their weapons and walked from their homes near Norman to demand access to education and lands within Oklahoma that they thought were rightfully theirs. After several days of peaceful demonstrations and civil disobedience led by AIM spokesperson Walter Reuther (a white man), Governor Bancroft issued an executive order ordering all Native Americans not living on reservations outside of Tulsa be have registered with local authorities within 48 hours or face imprisonment or removal from their properties. This action set off a decades-long struggle between Native Americans and whites for control over resources such as waterfowl hunting grounds and coal mining rights along the Arkansas River Valley east of Tulsa City proper; this conflict eventually led to violence culminating with federal troops invading Tulsa in 1921 during Red Scare hysteria following World War I's termination. As such,Choctaw history mirrors that of many other tribes throughout America during this time period – asramergetic efforts are often made by both sides to quash any perceived insurrectionary tendencies among its own members’ midst

This act allowed for them to establish their own government within this new territory and began their long process of integration into American society. Choctaw culture has been preserved through traditional practices such as cornbread stuffing, dance songs, and religious ceremonies that still take place today among their community members. Their economy is based largely on agriculture with some small businesses also involvement in fishing and hunting; however, it is also home to many cultural artifacts from before European contact including pottery shards from ancient Mesoamerica dating back to 3100 BCE!
