Chickasha is a small town located in Pawnee County, Oklahoma. The population was 1,434 at the 2010 census. Chickasha is known for its livestock and poultry industries, as well as its clay soil and rolling hills. The first settlers in Chickasha were the Daughters of the American Revolution who arrived in 1881. They built a house on the current site of the Chickasha High School. The town was named after Chicka-Hatchee, Alabama which was then part of Texas. In 1907, Chickasha’s post office opened and it remained open until 1959. Chickasha has been home to several families who have played an important role in its history: Judge John Fenton (1869-1931), his wife Ellen (1875-1965), their son George Fenton (1920-2005), and their daughter Laverna Fenton (born 1924). Judge John Fenton was considered one of the most influential people in Chickasha during his time and he is credited with creating many of the town's landmarks including the courthouse, water tower, and firehouse. The first store in Chickasha opened on Main Street near present day US Highway 16 about 1895 by Wm Hargrave & Bros.. It became a grocery store before being replaced by The Gass Store in 1922 which later became A&W Foods Incorporated. In 1928, Mrs Jane Gass made her own chicken feed that she distributed from her home through her mail order business called “The Gass Store'. This Feed company continued until 1984 when it merged with another mail order company to become Tyson Foods Incorporated.-later renamed Monsanto Corporation-. Many local residents are buried at various local graves sites within or around Chickenasha due to this era's significant businesses within the community such as these examples: Mrs Jane Gass Cemetery: 2 miles south of town; Mr Luther Willingham: 4 miles east of town; Lester Young Cemetery just outside village limits; William Hargrave & Sons Cemetery: 3 miles north of village limits; Clarence Ransom Tombstone: 5 miles southwest of village limits In 1946 General Electric established operations at what is now known as GE Power Plant No 2 adjacent to residential areas across southeast Oklahoma City resulting in numerous jobs for locals including those mentioned above plus others listed below.: See also sidebar "Oklahoma City Counties" In 1951 Tulsa World reporter J C Pepper wrote about how GE had laid down electric wire across nearly all possible crossroads throughout northeast OKC conducting research into potential new power sources.:See also sidebar "Oklahoma City Counties"

In 1924, Chickasha became a city and has since grown prominent as a rural farming community with a population of over 500 residents.
