The coast guard has been a part of the Broken Arrow community for many years. In 1892, a group of men from the town of Broken Arrow decided to form a volunteer fire department. The first captain was elected and he named George W. Hanks. In 1923, Captain John Grieve became the first commander of the Coast Guard Station in Broken Arrow. At that time, it consisted of two boats and five men. In 1951, Captain Steve Condon took over as Commanding Officer at the station. He doubled the size of the boat fleet and modernized all aspects of operations including new equipment and engines. In 1978, Captain Rickie McFarlane assumed command of Coast Guard Station Broken Arrow after serving as Assistant Commander for 2 months in New York City. As Commanding Officer, he developed an innovative program which included sailing vessels into local harbors to provide supplies to coastal communities during floods or emergencies. Captain McFarlane is responsible for developing maritime law enforcement within our community which includes tragic events like 9/11/2001 where more than 100 people were killed when terrorists hijacked Flight 93 on September 11th in Oklahoma City; Hurricane Katrina where over 1,500 people died as a result of flooding from Hurricane Rita; and most recently Kodiak Hurricanes season where 8 people lost their lives offshore when their ship capsized while sailing out to sea following an electrical storm

The Broken Arrow Coast Guard Station was established in 1929. The station served as the primary law enforcement authority for the area and played a vital role in responding to emergencies and crimes. In 2003, the coast guard station was relocated to its present location on Oklahoma City's South Side. The new location provides more space for patrol, research and training.
Broken Arrow is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 11,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stephens County. Broken Arrow is located on the Arkansas River and was founded by settlers in 1868. The town was originally named "Norman" after Samuel Norman, one of the original settlers in what is now Stephens County. In 1876, the name was changed to "Broken Arrow" after General Andrew Jackson's army destroyed Fort Harrison during the Mexican-American War. The city became an official U.S. city on January 1, 1907. In 1930, Broken Arrow began building its first air raid shelters and built a crematorium to process bodies from local businesses that were destroyed by fire bombings during World War II. The City Council also established a library system which served as both municipal court and librarianship for many years until it closed in 1992 because of budget cuts and budgetary problems with other public libraries across America at that time
The Coast Guard has been providing service to the American people since 1790. Today, the Coast Guard provides a wide range of services including law enforcement, search and rescue, communications, and maritime safety. In addition to its primary duties as a law enforcement agency, the Coast Guard also conducts various missions in support of America’s military and national security interests. The Coast Guard gift history is reflective of this ever-changing mission and responsibility. In 1885, Congress enacted the Law for the Regulation of Commerce with Foreign Nations (LACN) which established the United States Customs Service as an arm of the Coast Guard. The first U.S. Customs Service vessel was built at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1907. The first export control laws were passed under LACN in 1919 which sanctioned Operation Paperclip which resulted in the selection of German scientists for study at our universities. During World War II, both LACN and USCG played an important role in preventing war between America and Great Britain by patrolling international waters and enforcing US trade sanctions against Axis countries. Since then, both agencies have undergone Numerous Changes & Improvements such as: - creation of Specialty Units that are dedicated to homeland security such as Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Maritime Safety Administration (MARSA), or United States Border Patrol; - establishment of Helicopter/Air Patrol Squadrons with capabilities including airborne screening of airspace for illegal immigrants or drug smuggling; - merger with Fire Department Services Agency (FDSA) creating Unified Command Authority for all firefighting activities within harbor areas; - acquisition/integration into larger command structures resulting in name change from Coastal Guardsman to Auxiliary Marine Force/Coastguard Squadron; - modernization program - including installation of new electronic equipment & software; - expansion into Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria catastrophe; - continued evolution within agency through acquisition/acquisition program known as Next Generation Seawolf which emphasizes innovation & technical excellence across various branches & divisions.;

Broken Arrow was founded in 1881 by J.D. Powell and W.H. Caldwell as a trading post on the Arkansas River. The town quickly became an important center for cowboy culture, and its economy depended on the trade of horses, cattle, and other livestock. In 1907, Broken Arrow was renamed to honor General James Hays after he led a campaign against the Apache Indians in Arizona. It was also at this time that the town began to grow rapidly, becoming one of Oklahoma's most populous communities. By 1921, Broken Arrow had become a major railroad depot and had become home to many famousOklahomaomen such as Oilman Harry Laughlin and Popeye Greer. After World War II ended, Broken Arrow experienced rapid growth again due to its role as an agricultural center for nearby Comanche County. However, by 1990s it had lost much of its population and economic significance due to economic decline within Comanche County alone. Today, broken arrow is still a popular tourist destination with tourists visiting the downtown area for exhibits related to local history or watching rodeos at the nearby arena
Broken Arrow is located in the east central part of Oklahoma. The city was founded in 1907 by three men, John W. Brogan, Jesse L. Dyer and Harry H. Ransom. The city grew quickly, and by 1912 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1925, Broken Arrow became the county seat of Stephens County after the creation of that district from eastern Warren County. The town continued to grow rapidly, reaching its peak in 1951 with a population of over 1,500 people. However, the town's growth slowed during the years following World War II as demand for housing increased in surrounding counties. In 1971, Broken Arrow lost its status as the county seat when it was merged with Pryor County to form Tulsa County. As a result of this change in jurisdictional responsibility, Broken arrow lost some key economic resources which may have contributed to its decline during the late 20th century
