There is a rich coffee history in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The first coffee beans were grown on the ranch of George Armstrong Cattle Company in 1885. In 1916, the Ardmore Coffee Cooperative was founded and has been running ever since. The company grew to become one of the largestcooperatives in the United States. Today, Ardmore Coffee is one of the biggest coffee companies in the world and employs over 100 people. The company produces over 1,500 pounds of beans each year and sells its coffee all around the world. In addition to its flagship shop on Main Street, Ardmore Coffee also operates two small cafes throughout town. The origins of coffee can be traced back to Spanish missionaries who journeyed through present-day Oklahoma in 1847 looking for a new land to settle. One such missionary was Father Francisco de Jesús Uribe y Gómez, who named a creek after his godfather, Don José de Torres y Arellano (1768-1853). When he arrived inpresent-day Ardmore in 1848, he found that there was no coffee trees growing anywhere near him so he began planting them himself. He soon realized that this new process for extracting caffeine from beans was more efficient than what had been used before him and began selling his coffees commercially within only a few years of arrival! In 1928, John D’Antoni opened up his own roasting operation in Tulsa called John's Roasters & Cafe which became synonymous with quality Arkansas roasted beans. Over time other local entrepreneurs followed suit and started their own roasting operations as well – these include Joe's Cafe (now known as Joe's Java), Topo Chico's Café (now known as Topo Chico), Black Sheep Brewery (now know as Black Sheep Distillery), and even today Pecos Coffeeeworks located inside Pecos State Park! These separate businesses helped create what we now know as Arkansas Craft Coffee!

Ardmore is a town in, and the county seat of, Payne County, Oklahoma. The population was 3,853 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Arkansas River. Ardmore was founded by James Goss and his brother-in-law Wm. Armstrong in 1868 as a small community on the banks of the Arkansas River. Armstrong had been hired to build a road from Tulsa to Ardmore. Goss saw potential in this new town and decided to name it after him and his brother-in-law, James A. Garner Jr., who had also come from Tulsa to help build the road. The first post office was established in Ardmore on July 10, 1868, with J.A. Garner as its first mail carrier. The town became an agricultural center during the early years of its existence; cattle were drives into Ardmore for sale or exchange with nearby settlers and merchants. After railroads arrived in northeastern Oklahoma in 1892, businesses began growing around passenger and freight trains that stopped at Ardmore's railroad depot for passengers and goods transport
