Ardmore, Oklahoma is home to the United States Army and its many branches. The city's history dates back to the early 1800s when it was part of the Mexican-American War. After the war, Ardmore became a center for military activity. The first U.S.Army post in Ardmore was established in 1845. The army built many of its current facilities in Ardmore during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, the army maintains a presence in Ardmore through its various branches including the 3rd Infantry Division, 5th Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Brigade Combat Team and more. The 3rd Infantry Division traces its origins to World War I where it was activated in 1918 as part of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). Over time, it has served in multiple wars including World War II (1939-1945), Korea (1950-1953), Vietnam (1975-1979), Operation Desert Storm (1991) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2007). In 2019, 4th Infantry Regiment will be departing from Fort Sill for their final deployment with Headquarters Battalion 1st Brigade at Forward Operating Base Abu Ghraib located south of Baghdad Airport. 5th Infantry Division traces their origins to World War II where they were activated as part of General George Custer's 7th Cavalry Regiment on November 16, 1944. They participated in several battles throughout Europe before being deployed to Japan as part of Task Force Hawaii on September 26, 1945. Upon returning home they were absorbed into ghazni division which later becoming 5th Infantry Division on November 9, 1947 after combat operations against communist forces near Khe Sanh National Military Park southwest of Saigon during August and September 1948 while also serving as an occupation force until December 30 th . A few days later they fought their way across Demilitarized Zone into South Vietnam where they remained until May 10 th 1946 when Task Force Walker moved them northward along Highway 6 towards Long Khanh City prior to proceeding upriver towards Hanoi on March 15 th 1950 concurrent with withdrawal from South Vietnam handed over by USMC Commandant Admiral James Stockwell who arrived scene just two days earlier following weeks long siege by North Vietnamese Army at Qui Nhon Naval Base near Ho Chi Minh City culminating with surrender of North Vietnamese Chief Minister Nguyen Van Thieu on April 4 th 1951 . This event marks commenced end of conflict between North and South Vietnam although support continued through Annamek Airfield which opened October 25 rd 1957 providing logistical assistance to First Tactical Air Wing flying MiG fighter jets during Operation Rolling Thunder conducted against Soviet Union throughout summer 1958 - this ended hostilities between US & USSR resulting in policy known as "Thieu Thieu" or "Newgrave Doctrine". The 5th Infantry Division played an important role during both Desert Storm and Iraq Campaigns by playing defense along major roadways leading into Iraq while also conducting air assaults against enemy positions inside Iraq using Apache helicopters/AIM missiles/GBU bombs dropping from high altitude instead of artillery rounds or mortar fire due to fear that ground troops would become casualties if such assault were attempted without warning coalition forces located nearby should hostilities break out prematurely 82nd Airborne Brigade Combat Team is one componentofthe United States Army Reserve Component which is subordinate under United States Special Operations Command headquartered at MacDill AFB Tampa FL This unit was formed on July 14 2006 when Republic Of Texas Aerospace Defense Command assumed command & control assets formerly operated by 1st Special Forces Group within 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment element now 82nd Airborne Brigade Combat Team The 82ndAirborneBrigadeCombatTeam played an important roleinIraqCampaignsbyplayingdefensealongmajorroadwaysleadingintoIraqwhilealsoconductingair assaultsagainstenemypositionsthroughApachehelicopter/AIMmissiles/GBU bombsdroppingfromhighaltitudeinsteadof artilleryroundsandmortarfiredueto fearthatground troopswouldbecastefendantsshouldsuchassaultwereattemptedwithoutwarningcoalitionforces locate nearbyshould hostilitiesbreakout prematurely

The name Ardmore comes from an early settler named John Ardmore. The community was founded in 1881 by Jens Christensen and his family. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak during World War II when it had a population of 5,000 people. After the war ended, Ardmore declined slightly until reaching its current size in 1960. The economy of ArdMORE has diversified over time with textiles becoming one of its most prominent industries; however, agriculture remains an important part of the local economy with ranching and farming being two of the more dominant sectors today. One major employer in ArdMORE is Stephens County Library which employs about 130 people across five buildings within walking distance of each other on Main Street .

Ardmore is a town in Noble County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Ardmore is located on the east bank of the Arkansas River and about 16 miles (25 kilometers) southeast of Tulsa. The first people to arrive in what is now Ardmore were white soldiers from Fort Gibson who called themselves the "Oklahoma Rangers." On December 11, 1907, a group of settlers led by H. G. Blankenship arrived in what is now Ardmore and founded the town on land they had claimed from the Kiowa Apache Tribe. In 1908, they named it after Scottish whisky manufacturer Allan Macfarlane Ardbeg Limited. The town began to grow rapidly due to its location and access to good farmland for farming and cattle ranching. By 1916, there were over 100 residents living in Ardmore with businesses including a grocery store, post office, schoolhouse, doctor's office and hardware store. In 1924, sawmills began production in the town which continued until 1957 when all sawmills were closed down due to pollution from water used for milling cornstarch products locally In 1930s-1940s there was also a smallpox outbreak that caused many people to quarantine themselves for several weeks during that time
