After World War II, the coffee industry went through a period of growth and development in Zanesville. In 1951, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf became one of the first businesses to adopte a thermos-based system for brewing coffee. In 1969, Bob Evans began serving fresh brewed coffee from his flagship restaurant located on Third Street in downtown Zanesville. Two years later, Bob Evansopened his second restaurant named Peet's Place within walking distance of his original restaurant on Third Street. That same year saw the opening of First National Bank's new branch located on Elm Street in downtown Zanesville. In 1975, Starbucks began serving their inaugural cup of cold brew from one of their taprooms throughout Ohio and Indiana. That same year also saw the opening of Captain Jack's Crab Shack - which would become one of Columbus' most popular tourist attractions due to its unique crab dishes served up by Captain Jack himself! In 1978-1979 (the late 1970s), The American Legion had their own coffee shop called 'The Battalion'. Zanesville, Ohio is a city in Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,924 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Clermont County. The city was founded by General George Rogers Clark on July 4, 1799 as part of the Northwest Territory claimed by America during the Louisiana Purchase. Zanesville's first mayor was James A. Gurney and its first recorder was Daniel Dickson. In 1802, Zanesville became a town when it annexed the neighboring village of Dunbar. When brigadier general John Brown led his " emulation expedition" against Native Americans in 1804-1805 near present-day Zanesville, he camped at what is now Old Main Street and Third Avenue for four days before moving on to Ohiopyle under cover of darkness on July 12th (the day after independence from Great Britain). After two nights among Indian encampments east of present-day Akron, Brown killed five arrows sent to him by Chief Miami while he roamed near what is now Uniontown in Pickaway Township; this event has been called "the Battle oficonia". In 1811–12 General David Wilkinson fought an engagement with Creek Indians known as the Battle of White Rocks; many scalps were taken and Wilkinson's horse was killed but no blood was spilled because one side withdrew before they could take advantage of their victory over their opponents (Wilkinson Massacre). General Anthony Wayne also fought Indians northwest of present-day Zanesville in 1793 during his abortive attempt to quash a slave revolt amongst Shawnee Indians living along that stretch of the Indiana River valley; some say Wayne lost more than 50 men including several officers and artillerymen who were scalped or mutilated beyond recognition according to eyewitness accounts soon afterward at Mound Hill Swamp off present-day Canal Road adjacent to Indian Municipal Airport – site where today’s Cuyahoga Falls are located – Pinkerton Battlefield State Park Visitor Center Complex contains evidence indicative both American actions took place there at some point between 1794 and 1800: As early as 1801 public land lying within three miles (5 km)of Mound Hill Swamp had been leased by Jay Cooke & Company for $1 per acre per annum payable quarterly fur packers travelling through that area trade goods collected from surrounding tribes whom they subdued or captured See map attached exhibit 2 On October 25th 1800 US Army Lt Col John Armstrong destroyed all Chickasaw wigwams northwest of Warsaw Summit KY Source: US Army Topographical Survey No 33 Map Sheet #2pg15 The first settler in what would become ZaneVILLE arrived on July 4theenth 1800 when General George Rogers Clark landed his small party at Whatcom Point on Lake Erie just south ofpresent day Akron with intent upon claiming land grants from Native Americans occupying this region named Delaware Co., Geauga Co., Muskingum Co., Holmes Co., etc... Two years later Alexander Dunbar arrived from Scotland with his family also settling in this area and naming it Dunbarstown after himself... He started trading goods with local tribes alongwith other settlers until around 1830 when he moved westward into Claycoosa Township which bordered southweston contemporary Butler CountyHe died March 3rd 1840 aged 84 years old

In 1830, the Vermont Railroad passed through central Butler County and built a line from west to east through the town of Zanesville. As a result of this railroad arrival, business opportunities increased for downtown Zanesville and its vicinity which led to more development within the town limits- including building of churches (1831), blocks stores (1835), hotels (1839), breweries (1841), schools (1847), and mills ( 1850). 3 blacksmiths opened up shop in early 1840s followed by 3 groceries in 1865- all later closed down as small businesses due to changes brought about during times of economic depression/world War I; however 1 grocery reopened in 1919 as Stroud's General Store & Bakery before closing again due to recession some years later There were also 2 tanneries operating until 1870 when they too closed because there wasn't much demand for their products during that time period; one still operates today as an antique store called the Tanner House Museum

After Ohio joined the Confederacy, many businesses in Zanesville closed their doors or relocated to other states. However, some continued to operate until shortly before Ohio's admission into the Union in 1870.
