In addition to his role as owner/manager at The Beans & Boils, James Logan also played an important role in developing what would eventually be called “the first modern restaurant” in Youngstown – The Gilded Cage Restaurant (now known as The Elephant). This establishment was established on November 15th, 1827 and soon became renowned for its delicious food and friendly atmosphere! Over time, other prominent restaurants followed suit – such as Fenton’s Coffee House (now known as Joe’s Pizza) which opened its doors on October 1st, 1830; Pigeon Forge Grill (nowknown as Grille du Lac) which opened its doors on January 3rd, 1840; Amos Neely’s Irish Pub (now known as Tommy’s) which openedits doors on September 9th of that year; etc.).
