One of the most popular gifts given to policemen is a police service uniform. The uniform has become a symbol of law and order, and often provides officers with an opportunity to show their support for the force. Many departments allow officers to buy their own uniforms, or use surplus clothing from other departments. The history of the Police Service Uniform began in 1892 when the Ohio State Police were established. At that time, there was no governing body for law enforcement in Ohio and the state policed itself through its county sheriffs. The idea for a uniformed police officer was first brought up by one of these deputies, John Ahern. He proposed that all state troopers be given uniforms so that they could be seen as part of a cohesive unit. This request was accepted and uniforms were ordered from London manufacturers. The first units made were not very successful and quickly became outdated. In 1907, new regulations were placed on the states police forces which required them to wear regulation clothing instead of just street clothes. This change in policy allowed more conformity between different agencies and helped increase professionalism within the force. From then on, each agency started to design their own service uniforms which reflected their specific brand image and style. Today, many departments still allow officers to purchase their own service uniforms which can represent a lot of pride for them both professionally and personally. Although it may take some effort on behalf of the individual officer, wearing a well-made patrol outfit will make you look like you belong in your profession – something that many citizens appreciate!
There is no doubt that policemen are often given gifts as a way to show their appreciation. Some common gifts that policemen receive include cars, motorcycles, and rifles. Additionally, they may also be given money or other items in order to help with their work.

Wooster is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Wooster River. The population was 20,858 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Hudson metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1814 by George Wooster and his family as a sawmill settlement east of present-day Wooster. The original name for the town was "Niles". In 1831, George Washington and James Ketchum purchased land adjacent to what is now Wooster from William Brenton and laid out a village named after them, Nilesville (now North Canton). In 1832, the first courthouse in Ohio was built on this spot; it sat until 1847 when it moved to Cleveland. In 1837, John Prentice bought 6 tracts of land granting him an exclusive right to build a canal through his lands running south from Cleveland to Akron. This canal became known as the "Prentice Canal". The first store opened in Wooster on July 1, 1840; it was called the "John Prentice Store" because its founder had bought it from John Denny three years earlier. By 1850, there were over 100 stores open in rural areas across Ohio due to railroad expansion and development along the new Great Western Railroad line between Cleveland and Akron. In 1851, George Hanks formed a partnership with two others businessmen named Dent and Morse to purchase an old mill site just east of present-day Wooster for $10 per acre (this property has since been renamed rangeland). They began building a flour mill on this site which they completed in 1865 when they also built a dam across the river that provided irrigation water for their flour mills while also powering their boilers during manufacturing processes such as baking bread or brewing coffee. The mill closed in 1937 but remainslisted on the National Register of Historic Places today as part of Canton's Second Industrial Revolution District Museum Complex (formerly known as Wabash Mills National Historical Park) which includes four other early 19th century mills: J & A McCullough’s Lumber Mill (1892), Fenton Manufacturing Company Furniture Factory (1898), Greenback Lumber Co., Inc.(1901), and American Can Company Cannery(1906). The type of gift is important, but so is the recipient’s reaction to it. Here are a few examples: 1) A simple gift for a new officer: A hat or badge. 2) A nice gift for someone who has served their community well: handcuffs, a gun, or even a set of training wheels for an animal law enforcement officer. 3) Something unique and memorable: An engraved plaque with the officer’s name and rank inside an old case or holster.
The policeman gift history can be traced back to the early 1800s when policemen were first hired as part of an organization known as the National Police Department. This department was created in 1783 to keep order during times of political unrest. throughout the years, various gifts have been given to law enforcement officers, including equipment, tools, and items that would make their work easier.
Wooster is a small town in the western part of Ohio, about 15 miles west of Cincinnati. It was named for John Wooster, an early settler. The first post office in Wooster was established in 1811. The current courthouse and most of the town were built between 1875 and 1895. Wooster is known as the "Gateway to the West" because it served as a stop on Stagecoach Road (now Interstate 71) which connected Cincinnati with Indiana and other points west. In 1911, Wooster became home to one of the first movie theaters in Ohio when Pathé opened its doors there. The theater was demolished in 1961 but parts remain today as a museum dedicated to film history. Theodore Roosevelt's presidency saw many important events take place in Wooster including his speech at Stroudsburg College on April 12, 1904 where he announced his candidacy for president; his visit to Wooster on October 5 that year; and his appearance at a dinner given by Judge Wirtz at the hotel called "The Green Gables" on November 14th which helped launch America's entry into World War I. Many people from nearby towns came to see President Roosevelt during this time such as Edward Everett Scott who lived just east of Wooster and later became governor of Massachusetts.
Wooster was founded in 1814 by George B. Wooster and his brother, Amos. It is the oldest town in Ohio. The town was named after General George Washington, who died in 1799.
