Willowick is a small town in northeastern Ohio, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Wilmington–Andover, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Willowick is located on the Scioto River. Willowick was first settled by Native Americans in the area that now makes up Willowick Township and is thought to be where the Shawnee defeated British troops in 1794. In 1814, as part of Treaty 7, this land was ceded to the United States under terms which included giving away all Indian land east of the Cuyahoga River for white settlement. The first settler in what would become Willowick Township was Isaac Goodrich, who arrived there in 1825. He built a cabin on the banks of the Scioto River and named it "Goodrich's Ferry". The community grew rapidly due to its location next to a major natural resource: softwood trees growing along both sides of the river. By 1830, Goodrich had erected a frame store and post office which remain extant today as "Willowick Post Office". In 1836, John Troup moved from Cincinnati into what would become Willowick Township with his family and began clearing land for farming purposes. In 1840 he laid down four miles (6 km) of railroad track from Athens Junction northeast through present-day WillowICK village to his farmstead at milepost 6; this line later became known as "The Big Four." When completed, it connected Toledo with Cincinnati and made possible increased trade between those cities and remote parts of central Ohio

Willowick is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,826 at the 2010 census. It formed from the merger of two villages on the east side of Willowick Creek: Willingboro and Westfield. The first settler in Willowick was Nicholas Brown who arrived in 1792. He platted what is now Willowick Village on land that he had acquired from the Ottawa Indians. In 1802, John Lennon and his family settled here after travelling through Upper Canada on their way to America. George Washington visited Willingboro in 1796; his visit is commemorated by a plaque located in town square. A post office was established at Willowick in 1814, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1825, General James Wilkinson built a mill pond near present-day Main Street for grinding flour for export to Great Britain. The mill caught fire soon after its creation and burned down; this event is celebrated annually as "The mill fire." In 1828, 12 farmers organized into a townsite association which renamed itself "Willingboro." The first store opened at the junction of Center Street and High Street (now Elm Street) on October 25, 1830; it continued to be run by local residents until 1865 when it became part of the new village of Westfield. In 1834, Willingboro incorporated as a village under the leadership of Mayor Samuel Morse Sr.; within two years it had outgrown its original boundaries and became an independent municipality with equal powers with Medina County. This occurred despite objections by some property owners living inside WILLINGBURY VALLEY because they considered their rights superior to those granted to WILLINGBOROUGH NEW CITY LLC., which formed seconds later along nearby Elm Street). On April 3rd 1836 WILLINGBOROUGH NEW CITY LLC merged with WILLOWICKVillage creating oneTownship with 2 Villages within it On January 1st 1840 OFFICIAL MURDER OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY took place when Abraham Lincoln was shot while riding his horse near Uniontown On February 14th 1840 WILLOWICK CREEK RESCUE DOGS were found abandoned about 4 miles SWNE of town limits just past current day's intersection of High School Road & Old National Road
In 1808, the town of Willowick was surveyed and established. It was named after a weaver's daughter who lived in the area. In 1814, the first school was built in Willowick. The first resident doctor in Willowick was Dr. George Washington Smith. In 1830, the Erie Canal was completed and Willowick became an important transportation center. The population of Willowick grew rapidly and by 1840, it had reached 100 residents. In 1842, a sawmill was built in Willowick and soon afterward, a woolen mill opened as well. By 1850, the population of Willowick had increased to 350 residents and by 1860 it had reached 500 residents. By 1870, there were two mills operating in town with a total production capacity of 1 million pounds of wool per year. The cotton industry also began to grow in Willowick during this time and by 1880 it had reached 10 percent of the town’s economy. However, during World War I (1918-1921), WillowICK experienced significant economic decline due to prohibitionism which caused a drop in its population from 600 to 508 residents over the course of hostilities). After World War I ended however, the town regained some growth thanks to new businesses opening up such as an auto dealership and grocery store that helped support local agriculture while also bringing new life into townspeople' lives; these changes led to another increase in its population to 611 residents by 1930 according to statistics provided by The Ohio Historical Society
