In 1875, they opened the Willoughby Coffee Warehouse on Elm Street. This warehouse became known for its quality and variety of beans, as well as its customer service. In 1924, the company moved its headquarters from High Street to Elm Avenue in Willoughby Township.

They cleared land around present day Willoughby on the Scioto River which they named "Hancock". On December 12th 1812 he bought 640 acres of land from John Myrick for $1 dollar per acre. In 1815 Nicholas married Rebecca Studley nee Howard who also lived in Hancock and they had seven children: Anna Maria Studley; Nicholas Studley; James Stanford; George Washington Stanford; Mary Ann Stanford; Martha Jane Stanford; John StanislausStanford . In 1819 Rebecca died leaving three sons: George WashingtonStanford Jr.; Nathaniel Stroud Stanfords ; William Mifflin Stanfords . In 1830 Rebecca's brother John Studleys son William married Lydia Green , daughter of Peter Green of Bellefontaine Village . At this time there were over 20 families living in Hancock together with their farm equipment & 10 slaves making it one of the most slave free settlements west of Appalachia In 1840 Nicholas sold his farm to Joseph Cushman for $4 dollars per acre but by 1850 still owned some 256 acres east sideof SciotoRiver near present day Arlington heights that he had cleared himself years earlier known as "Cleveland Hill". This hill served as an early church and later school until 1893 when it burned down due to being used as a storage shed during prohibition days when alcohol was banned nationwide In 1851 Joseph Cushman acquired another 640 acres from Nicholas Studley which included much orchard & forested areas south sideof river near present day Brookside heights In 1863 Abraham Lincoln became President after defeating Andrew Johnson in a close election resulting in 4 more years of Union rule culminating with the addition of Ohio to the United States In 1865 Springfield Armory opened its doors here followed soon by other major businesses such as Wm Dixon & Sons clothing store soon followed by other stores until 1930s when all but one closed because prohibition ended After World War II various farms were acquired throughout central & eastern Ohio bringing many new residents including dentists like dentist Jerome Weisner whose office building still stands today next door to Sawmill Creek Municipal water tower

Willoughby, Ohio is a small town in the Dayton area of Ohio. The population was 2,708 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH-KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1811, Willoughby became one of the towns in what would become Union Township. A post office was opened at Willoughby on July 10, 1812 and remained open until 1840. The first settler in Willoughby was Lemuel Haines who arrived in 1798 from Rhode Island and organized a Methodist church there in 1800. In 1811, Union Township was created from portions of Northwest Territory and Willoughby became one of its seven towns. The first school in Willoughby was built on what is now First Street between State Road 434 and Fifth Avenue in 1814 by David Kappes and his wife Eliza Ann Kappes. This school continued to be used until it burned down in 1861. The second school building which still stands today on High Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue was built by Rev John Cramer around 1830 with help from his son-in-law Ebenezer Brownell. After being destroyed by fire twice, it finally caught on fire during the night of September 25th, 1844 after years of neglect by owners John Cramer (the founder) and Ebenezer Brownell (the original custodian). This two story frame house served as both schools until 1865 when a new high school building was constructed just east of where this one still stands on High Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue which served as the primary educational institution for students throughout much of the 19th century until it closed down due to lack of money in 1893 after which it sat empty for many years before being purchased by local developer George Poston who converted it into an apartment complex known as “The Park” which remains extant to this day although conversions have removed some older structures including most notably its tower that once afforded a commanding view across Main Street towardsFirst National Bank Building across Capitol Square today (although views are no longer available from inside units) In 1895 when WILLOUGHBY TOWNSHIP VIRGINIA SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS FORMED THE WILLOUGHBY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT INCorporation took place with Mrs Nancie Pemberton becoming Principal In 1923 Mrs Lillian Bowers assumed leadership position In 1951 Mrs Alice Fenton became principal Mrs Alice Fenton left effective November 1st 2001 to take up her position as assistant superintendent with responsibility for all elementary education programs within district
