In 1830, Wickliffe became part of the newly formed Cuyahoga County when it was established from parts of Summit and Wayne counties. In 1907, local investor Augustus Kelley donated 5 acres (20,000 m²) for use as a public park which would later become known as Kelley Park. The park originally featured a small fortification that served as a stopping point on horseback during pioneer days when trade with Native Americans took place through this area. Today, most of the park is filled with large playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a lake which offers fishing opportunities for both locals and visitors alike; however portions are also used for parking and other purposes such as concerts or rallies hosted by the city government or civic organizations events over time have included games like Ultimate Frisbee or dodgeball that have taken place there including some professional leagues games played there too; one notable event happened earlier this year where Major League Soccer game between Columbus Crew SC and Toronto FC took place on July 25th 2017 across from one half mile long runway at dog run field located just off I-675 exit 17A near downtown Akron

Wickliffe is a town in Logan County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton area. Wickliffe was founded by John Wickliffe and others in 1800. It became a town on December 3, 1814, by an act of the General Assembly of Ohio. On March 10, 1836, Wickliffe voted to secede from Ohio and become a separate country called "Wickliffe." The United States Navy bombarded Wickliffe on October 12, 1838 during the Mexican–American War as part of Operation Crossroads. The first post office in Wickliffe was established on July 24, 1800, by George Hutton. The post office name changed to Wickville on September 25, 1801; to Westwick on November 8th; and finally to Wicklowe on January 6th (august), 1802. In 1870 the population had increased to 486 people; however it decreased to 2,869 people by 1990 census due largely to declines in manufacturing jobs in Akron and Canton which affected both towns' economies). In 1902 local paperboy-turned-politician Homer Senter ran for mayor against incumbent Daniel Sheehan but lost because he could not get over 30% of the vote statewide. In 1904 Senter again ran for mayor but this time he won with 54%. He served two terms as mayor before retiring from politics in 1916 when he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Ulysses S Grant's army during World War I and died two years later at age 82 years old without ever having been elected mayor or serving another term since then.
