Air Force gifts have been a part of the Westlake community for over sixty years. The first gift from the Air Force was a bomber, and since then, Air Force donations have come in all shapes and sizes. One of the most well-known air force gifts is the K-2O1A Bronco Helicopter. This helicopter was gifted to Westlake by Colonel Clarence E. “Kooky” Jones, Jr., USAF (Ret). Colonel Jones was instrumental in helping to establishWestlake as an aerial refueling stop on international flights. The Bronco Helicopter has always been a popular gift, and it has been used to transfer troops and supplies throughout the world. The latest air force gift is the KC-135 Stratotanker tanker jet airliner. This jet airliner was donated by General Rick Atkinson, USAF (Ret), Commander of United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) during his visit to Westlake in May of 2017. General Atkinson visited with local businesses and gave presentations about USSTRATCOM's operations in North Korea and elsewhere in Asia. The KC-135 Stratotanker jets are used for strategic bombing missions over enemy territory, providing support for ground forces engaged in combat campaigns abroad.

The Ohio Air National Guard (OANG) was activated on February 1, 1947. The organization's first commander, Major General James Fenton, was appointed by then-President Harry Truman. On July 1, 1948 the OANG was assigned to the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). On September 9, 1952 Captain John A. McCloy became the first OANG officer killed in action. Lieutenant Colonel James W. Gunn became the second OANG officer killed in action on October 5th when he lost his life while flying a C-47 Skytrain from RAF Mildenhall to Frankfurt am Main, Germany with Company D of the 383rd Fighter Wing. Inactivated on August 31st 1954 and again activated on December 15th 1957 as part of United States Army European Command under command of Headquarters U.S Army European Command at Frankfurt am Main Airport Italyate. Activated again as an independent unit on May 15th 1961 and redesignated the 209th Tactical Airlift Squadron at Frankfurt Am Main Airport Italyate which remained inactive until its reactivation as a squadron on November 3rd 1971 under command of Major General Edward Fournier USAF Retired after being assistant instructor at Randolph AFB Texas for several years prior to that assignment
Westlake is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Stark County. The population was 35,846 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Scioto River near Youngstown, OH, and it is one of four cities in Stark County. The first European to set foot in what is now Westlake was John Sellers in 1795. He named his land “Westlake” after his estate that he had built thereabouts on a tract of land acquired from British forces during the French and Indian War. The site of present-day Westlake was settled by families who arrived as early as 1798 when David Armstrong settled there with his family from Virginia; they brought with them slaves and some Native Americans to help farm the land. In 1814, General John Bell moved his army headquarters from Fort Pitt to relieve pressure on the Siege of Fredonia by General Anthony Wayne; at this time, Westlake was part of Delaware Township which became part of Stark County when that township was created out of parts of Richmond Township (now Mahoning Valley), Mentor Township (now North Olmsted Township), and Woodstock Township (now Defiance Heights). During these years, most westward migration took place through what are now Delaware and Mahoning valleys instead of through central Stark County along the Scioto River where opportunities for growth were more limited due to reachingable water resources only within a few miles wide at best. In 1817, John Sellers sold off all but 3 acres including today's downtown area to James Burchardt who renamed it "Westlake Village". That same year saw also settlement by Simon Bolivar Truex Sr., brother-in-law of William Hance Hardeman who owned much real estate east side Summit Street between Prospect Avenue and Elm Street until its sale in 1870 to Jno Ayer Moore Moore soon rename it "Westlake", based upon its location adjacent to then newly developed Cleveland Park southwest corner Willow Road/Highway 23rd avenue) just northwest side American Boulevard/State Route 44th street). Thisenterprise led directly theretofore unoccupied lots along Centre Avenue between Euclid Avenue/I-680E southwesterly boundary line bisecting University Circle later becoming Harrison Ford Elementary School which opened in fall 1959 across Center Avenue from thenceforth known as "Ford Place" west boundary line following I-680E northeasterly course until Interstate Highway 90 merges with State Routes 44th & Euclid Avenues concurrent route
The United States Air Force has a rich history that dates back to World War II. The USAF was founded in 1947, and since then it has played an important role in the defense of America and its allies. Today, the USAF is responsible for more than 100,000 airmen and Reservists who serve in over 120 nations around the world. One of the most famous members of the USAF is General Curtis LeMay. He was instrumental in developing the USAAF into one of the most powerful military forces on earth during World War II. General LeMay also served as Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces Europe during Operation Overlord, which led to Nazi Germany’s defeat at Normandy Beach. Today, General LeMay remains highly respected within the USAF community and is considered one of America’s Most Valuable Heroes. In addition to his accomplishments with the USAAF, General LeMay also served as President Reagan’s first Administrator for Defense Materiel Policy and Deputy Secretary of State for Aeronautics under Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton

The town of Westlake, Ohio is located in the northwestern corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 9,971 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Westlake has been inhabited by Native Americans for hundreds of years and began to be developed as a town in 1848. In 1853, it was named after General George Washington Westlake who had fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as Secretary of War under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The first post office was established in Westlake in 1850 and its first settler, Levi Townes, arrived in 1851. In 1870, local citizens voted to annex neighboring towns of Northfield and Strongsville so that they would form a new village known as South Park Heights. However, this annexation did not take place because South Park Heights became too populous and annexed by North Park Heights instead. In 1907, two schools were built within walking distance of each other on Race Street - one for black students and one for white students - which soon became known as "The Two Schools". This incident led to some tension between the two groups but eventually resolved itself due to their proximity to each other." In 1941-1942 World War II resulted in an increase in businesses coming into town from out of state which caused some growth within the community; however when V-E Day came around most businesses left town citing wartime shortages impacting all industries across America In 1951 when Interstate highways were built running through central Ohio making it easier for people moving about the region there wasn't much development taking place until later with advancements made during suburbanization beginning to occur over time such as bringing more jobs closer together downtown during night hours leading up to current day boundaries
Westlake was a village in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,975 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in what is now Westlake were James and Susanna Cook who arrived in 1792. James Cook died soon after arrival while Susanna Cook married Evan Thomas. In 1802, John and Lydia Williams bought land from the Cooks and started a farm there. They also raised chickens on their property which they turned into eggs to sell. In 1812, when Timothy Carden bought theWilliams farm with some of his cattle, he decided to move the egg business to Westlake so that more people could buy eggs from him. The town of Westlake was founded on October 14, 1812 by Captains George Barrett and Daniel Webster as a place for trading purposes with other villages along the Cuyahoga River Valley. On December 12 of that year, President James Ketchum signed an order authorizing the purchase of two lots of land at Lytle Creek for $1 each from Solomon Denny for use as a town site. The first buildings built in Westlake were a schoolhouse and storehouse which were completed in 1815; a church which was dedicated on January 6th, 1830; and a post office which opened on January 9th (known then as "Clintonville"). A blacksmith shop also became operational in 1850-1851 due to supply issues caused by transportation difficulties during the 4 Cent Civil War period. In 1847-48 Landon Hennepin built several small log cabin houses near present day Union Drive & Northway Road for himself and his family before moving downriver to what is now Hollandale where he developed one of America's largest dairy farms starting up with about 400 cows! On November 3rd 1860 about 50 men led by Captain John Geddes numbering over 100 made an attempt unsuccessfully to start another settlement called Greeneville just upstream from current day Canfield until they found out that it already had been founded! This event is sometimes referred to as "Theday After" or simply "Theday". Captain Geddes explored further upriver but because of navigation problems returned back down river rather than continue trying another Settlement!
