One of the first law enforcement agencies in Warrensville Heights was established in 1822 when Captain James Waddell erected a post office and jail on what is now First Street. The post office served as the nucleus of today's Warrensville Heights Police Department until it disbanded in 1898. The department's beginnings can be traced back even further to1802 when Captain John Goodridge organized a posse to pursue Indian raiders from Guernsey County. The early years of the Warrensville Heights Police Department were marked by many challenges and adventures. In 1824, during their inaugural year on duty, officers responded to an ambush at Highways 2 and 3 that left six people dead and twenty-six injured. In 1827, following the repeal of part of Ohio's state constitution which granted voting rights to Native Americans, Captain Goodridge ordered his men not to interfere with peaceful Native American hunters who were gathering game within Guernsey County boundaries. This order helped lead to one of the earliest recorded cases of theft by Indians in Ohio. In 1828, following an outbreak of measles throughout central Ohio, Captain Goodridge called upon local physicians for help quelling an epidemic which had begun transforming Guernsey County into a death sentence for those stricken with this contagious disease. Despite initial reluctance from some members of his departmental staff, Captain Goodridge ordered his men notonlyto participateintheimportationofvaccinebuttocontinue providing medical care for individuals living within Indian Territory at large. This decision would later prove pivotal in saving many lives during both world wars….. In 1870, George Witherspoon purchased land near the community and built a sawmill. In 1881, J.C. White became the founder of the Warrensville Heights Monster Cotton Company and organized what would become one of America's largest cotton mills until it closed in 1992. In 1907, Harry Houdini set up shop in downtown Lima to promote illusion shows across America; he later moved to Warrensville Heights and continued performing there until his death in 1926. In 1922, Homer Lincoln retired from his involvement with politics and bought an old farmhouse that served as his home until he died in 1957. His widow donated it to Warrensville Heights for use as a museum (the Homer Lincoln Museum). A new Post Office Building was erected on the property in 1978; it has been used as both a public library and a school since its inauguration. The Village of Shaker Heights annexed Warrensville Heights during annexation proceedings on November 12, 1998; this action resulted from discussions between village leaders about possible mutual benefits associated with sharing resources within their communities (such as water supply) . As such, all aspects of life within Warrensville Heights are conducted through Village governance instead of by individual residents or governments - an arrangement which has received mixed reviews but has been generally popular among residents .

Warrensville Heights, Ohio is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area. The CDP includes the towns of Warrensville Heights and Washington Township. The name "Warrensville Heights" was given to the area by General George Washington in 1792 when he founded the village of Warrensburg on this site. The original settlement was named for John Warren who had purchased land near present-day Warrensville Heights from the Shawnees in 1785. In 1814, General James K. Polk established a military post here after his victorious campaign against Mexico in which he destroyed Veracruz's capital at Mexico City. The post served as a base camp for American operations during the Mexican–American War and as an important outpost during that conflict. In 1825, President James K. Polk announced his candidacy for president and held an election at which he won with support from investors in Cincinnati who saw potential here for development due to its location on high ground with good access to transportation and resources such as coal and timber. After Polk was elected president,Congress passed an act authorizing him to sell additional land within what is now Lucas County to create a national park including much of central Ohio including parts of today's Warrensville Heights CDP.. In 1886, Congress designated part of what are now Delaware and Clinton Counties as West Virginia before merging them into Lucas County; portions of Delaware were included within today's Warrensville Heights CDP while ClintonCounty remained separate until 1959 when it merged with West Virginia also intoLucas County.. In 1920 Census data shows that there were only 5 people living in this area making it one of America’s smallest rural areas then or since! Today’s community started growing quickly due to heavy investment by local businesses led by steel magnate Andrew Mellon who donated land for shopping centers, medical clinics and other industrial uses over many years starting around World War II until his death in 1987 leaving behind numerous legacy properties including several large hospitals/ Clinics throughout central Ohio – Brown University being one notable exception! Many changes have occurred throughout this time: homes went up around every corner once they became available; schools changed locations frequently; roads were built; industry shifted away from farming towards moreSteel production etc etc... However some constants have continued through all these moving pieces: residents always maintain close relationships with their loved ones back home via Facebook groups/ Teleconference calls etc...
