In 1892, Warrensville Heights was founded by James W. Gilmore and his wife, Emma. The first grocery store in the area was established in 1898. A post office was located on the property in 1903. In 1907, a sawmill and grist mill were built on the site and continued to be used until 1951 when they were replaced by an all-island gasoline station. In 1916, a vehicle dealership was opened by George Kappelmeyer at 5 N Main Street. The business closed in 1951 but reopened as a convenience store in 1977. In 1984, the building that now houses local drugstore J's Pharmacy was purchased from the Gilmore family and has been used as their business since then.
Warrensville Heights is a community in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, located east of downtown on the city's northern border. The population was 40,594 at the 2010 census, making it the ninth-largest community in Greater Cincinnati. The name comes from Warrensville Township, which was part of Hamilton County until 1802. The community was first settled by Germans in the early 1800s and became a heavily Polish-American enclave after World War II. It has since become an overwhelmingly white American town with few residents from other ethnic backgrounds. The history of Warrensville Heights dates back to 1802 when Warrensburg Township was organized as part of Hamilton County. At that time, much of what is now Warrensville Heights were forested land owned by wealthy farmers and600 families lived there at its peak in the late 19th century. In 1907, housing development began in what is now eastern Warrensburg Heights and soon enough, a small town had formed around it including businesses such as grocery stores and factories. By 1920, however, most of the homes within this new neighborhood had been built while little else had been constructed nearby so growth stalled In 1948, local voters passed a resolution supporting annexation into Cincinnati due to then-city plans for annexing more rural areas into the city limits. This led to increased business activity and development around what is now eastern Warrensburg Heights as developers looked for ways to skirt zoning regulations meant only for densely populated neighborhoods like Art deco districts or streetcar suburbs like Edgewood Village or Overlook Park

Warrensville Heights was founded in 1805 by Nicholas Warren and his wife, Martha. The town was named for Warrensville, a small farming village about 20 miles away. In 1850, the Warren family moved to Uniontown, Ohio and continued to live there until their death in 1875. The town grew rapidly during the early years of the 19th century due to its fertile farmland and strong industry. In 1825, the first gristmill in the town was built and it soon became one of the leading mills on the Eastern Shore of Ohio. The Warrensville Heights Grange also operated a school from 1830 until 1902. In 1853, Samuel Atherton erected a large frame building at 1015 Market Street as the first courthouse in Warrensville Heights. It served as both court house and municipal hall until it was destroyed by fire in 1901. The building is now used as an agricultural museum. In 1861, David Crouse laid out what is now Park Avenue in honor of his father-in-law John Patey who had died two years earlier. Park Avenue today remains one of downtown Dayton's most popular tourist attractions because of its many architectural features dating back to that time including Crouse's mansion which still stands today (although it has been rebuilt several times).

Warren and his wife, Nancy, on a tract of land that they bought from John Cohan. A year later, they added another house to the lot and named it after their son-in-law, Nathaniel Bacon. In 1830, the couple purchased more land andbuilt a two-story building which they called the “Hospitable House”. They continued to live in this house until 1836 when they sold it to John Prentice for $1,000. In 1846, the Prentice family moved out of town and built a home at 5684 Old Hawkins Road (now Warrensville Heights Drive). The Prentice family lived there until 1951 when they sold it to Mr. & Mrs. Burt Landon for $3 million dollars. Mr. & Mrs. Landon have been living in the home since then and continue to maintain it as their primary residence.]
