The Wadsworth National Guard has been a part of Ohio's history for over 125 years. The unit was first organized on December 12, 1892 as the Wadsworth Regiment of Volunteers. On July 1, 1916, the regiment was redesignated the Wadsworth Volunteer Infantry and on November 30, 1916 it became the Wadsworth National Guard. In 1946, the regiment was again redesignated as the Wadsworth Armored Cavalry and in 1992 it became known as the Wadsworth National Guard. In 1923, General George S. Patton directed that all national guard units be placed into one division under his command with headquarters at Toledo. This marked an important change in how Ohio's national guard functioned and changed the once volunteer-based organization into an professional military force. The Divisional Headquarters battalion became responsible for training and arming all state guard troops while also conducting exercises throughout Ohio and Kentucky annually. On July 1, 1951, when Congress passed Publius 93 which created theNational Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), there were many changes taking place within both our military and civilian branches of government that affected our national guard in particular. One example is that all soldiers must now be registered with their local authorities before being able to receive weapons or equipment from those same authorities during peacetime; this new regulation helped ensure accountability for military hardware purchases by civilians who had nothing to do with participating in wartime operations. Many officers have served in both World Wars II and Korea including Colonel John A Knoppers who commanded Battalion F Company of 6th Delaware Infantry Regiment during World War II; Captain James D Eaves who led Company I 9th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment during Korea; Major Luther Honecker who commands 3rd Battalion Cincinnati Artillery Regiment during World War II; Col Richard J McNamara who commanded 2nd Battalion Cleveland Mounted Rifles during Korean War; Lieutenant Colonel Donald L McDermott commanding 3rd Battalion Rhode Island Army National Guardsmenduring Vietnam War; Captain Clifford W Potter Jr., Commanding Officer 4th Brigade Combat Team/2nd Armored Division/First Cavalry Division during Desert Storm Operation Iraqi Freedom) among others are only a few examples of what numerous officers have gone through since 1948 when we started using our present name “Wadsworth National Guard” When President Barack Obama took office he appointed Commander United States Army Europe Gary O'Connor to lead UASA -a single mission command structure designed to integrate theater-level Army commands across European armies so commanders could better manage joint operations across multiple theaters of war without havingto rely on centralized control or headquarters staff located in separate locations Ohio's current commander is Brigadier General Craig Fugatewho will retire at the end of 2018 after serving 21 years as leader of UASA

The Guard was made up of voluntary militia members from each state who were required to drill and serve two years without pay. After two years, they could be discharged for cause or if they achieved military rank or service in a war against Canada or Mexico. Between 1802-1868, the National Guard was used to suppress slave revolts and protect settlers during the Mexican-American War. In 1916, Congress passed the National Defense Act which increased troop strength by 50%. The National Guard was again mobilized in 1942 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Since its inception, the National Guard has played an important role in American life. Today, it serves as an important check on government power and helps provide critical resources for communities across the country.

Wadsworth is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, and the seat of Muskingum County. The population was 34,864 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wadsworth was founded by colonists who arrived from England in 1792 and became an incorporated town in 1821. Wadsworth had its first post office on April 20, 1824. The current Wadsworth Municipal Airport opened in 1936 and is used for general aviation and regional air travel by the region's airports serving Greater Cleveland area. The community took its name from General Nathaniel Wadsworth (1762-1825), a hero of the American Revolution who served as a brigadier general in George Washington's army and later as United States Minister to Great Britain under John Adams. General Wadsworth originally settled on land grants given to him by his English patrons with instructions to farm it undisturbed until they could be replaced by European settlers. In 1799, he married Anna Maria Kemble (1763-1849), daughter of a wealthy British investor in America, which increased his holdings substantially. When General Wadsworth died young without children, his wife assumed full ownership of the grant land and continued farming it herself until her death in 1825; she bequeathed it to her husband's nephew Nathan Wadleigh Wadsworth (1800-1868). Although village status was not conferred upon Wadworth until 1830, development accelerated following that year's erection of a public credit society called The Western Reserve Bank Company with $5 million capitalization for village development within one year; this event marked "the commencement of organized local government" according to chronicler Edwin Ladd: "In less than two years after organization [the bank], there were three stores open...two tanneries...a schoolhouse...and five houses." A water tower built in 1835 soon becameacentralized billing facilities for all village residents; another such structure erected soon afterward provided community hall/library services now enjoyed by neighboring towns including Akron and Canton A survey made during 1861 counted 231 dwellings including 56 farms outbuildings totaling 477 acres with an average yield per acreof 50 bushels; 88% or more of cultivated acreage was owned or leased outright to tenant farmers while only 2% or less was rented out On July 9th 1863 Union troops burned down Friendship Village during their raid into Muskingum County looking for Rebels practicing guerrilla warfare against Ulysses S Grant's Union forces nearby
There are a few different types of national guard gift history. There is the historical National Guard, which was organized in 1792 and disbanded in 1865. There is also the modern National Guard, which was created in 1947 and has since grown to include more than 35 million active duty military members across the United States. The modern National Guard provides law enforcement, disaster relief, and other protective services to member communities throughout the country. The first national guard gifts were given by states as part of state-provided militia forces. In 1792, Rhode Island gave its own set of national guards to help protect their citizens from potential British attack. Connecticut soon followed with similar units. The first federalized national guard was given to Georgia in 1801 as part of their war against Mexico. In 1824, Congress passed an act that established a permanent U.S. military department under the command of General George Washington called the Department of War (later renamed THE ARMY). This marked the beginnings of what would become the U.S. Army and Navy. The Department of War consisted initially only of artillery officers for training purposes but it soon grew into a massive force with over 4200 officers and men at its peak in 1836 when it numbered 10,000 troops! Between 1830 and 1840, state militias began to be replaced by regular army units called “battalions” on an individual basis according to state laws at various points in time (eastern Pennsylvania until 1861; West Virginia until 1863; New York State until 1898). These battalion-level formations usually had no more than 50 commissioned officers but could field up to 10 times as many soldiers as regular army battalions did (the last major rifle regiment being raised in 1907). A notable exception occurred during World War II when almost all American armies were structured along battalion lines with each unit composed either entirely or nearly entirely of draftees or volunteers! Throughout most of this period there were two basic typesof gift giving: private donations directly from individuals or groups who wished to commemorate special occasions such as dedicate a new building ora event such as a parade or dinner hosted by someone important like President Abraham Lincoln on his birthday (1865); public donations made by member governments through taxation/revenue Acts passed between 1860-1920 which financed both internal defense programs including guarding American embassies abroad during peace negotiations;and gifts received both from individuals and organizations acting on behalf not just one government but multiple administrations simultaneously! Gifts made through these channels can be difficult to track down because legislation governing these activities often changed rapidly without notice so written records may not reflect actual events!
