The Coast Guard has been providing service to the citizens of Vermilion, Ohio since 1917. The first coast guard station in the town was built on the banks of the river St. Clair in 1917. In 1951, a second coast guard station was constructed on Belle Isle. The town had a population of only 70 residents when it became part of the Cleveland-Vermilion metropolitan area in 1966. In 1970, a new coast guard station was constructed at Ferry Landing. This facility became operational in 1976 and played an important role in keeping Vermilion safe during the summertime season. In 1980, a third coast guard station was constructed at Grosse Pointe Park by order of then-Governor John Kasich. This facility served as the primary location for law enforcement activities within the metropolitan area until 1992 when it was moved to Vermilion Airport due to its proximity to major highways and businesses. Since 1992, Vermilion’s Coast Guard Station has been located at Pier 21 which is situated adjacent to commercial shipping channels and close to Interstate 675 which provides access to both Detroit and Cleveland Shoreway traffic. Additionally, Pier 21 serves as homeport for three helicopters that provide essential coastal security services for residents and visitors alike during inclement weather conditions. Today, the Coast Guard Station offers an extensive range of services including: maritime security; search and rescue; First Responders Training; commemorative programs; educational materials; public relations initiatives; disaster response plan presentation ceremonies; memorial donations/donations receptions; Fleet Week events (included Open House Friday July 4th from 2pm-4pm); community outreach through special events such as art shows or carnivals sponsored by local/regional organizations that work with our agency... Our mission remains unchanged – providing safety for all who live near or depend upon our shoreline!

Vermilion, Ohio is a small town located in the Ohio Valley region of the United States. The population was 5,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metro area and is one of twelve townships in Hamilton County. The village was founded by British settlers in 1811 as Vermilion Station on the Great Miami River. In 1825, it became a post office under the name of Vermilion. The name change toHamilton when Hamilton County was created from parts of surrounding counties in 1837. The village502 homes including 7 small businesses and 20 total family residenceson 8 acres (3 hectares) near Yeager Air Force Base completed annexation by Hamilton County in 1978 following approval by a vote of residents. Development continued through purchases and condemnation proceedings during the 1990s as new housing options were developed nearby for military personnel stationed at Yeager AFB and other government employees commuting into Cincinnati or Cleveland while they awaited their next assignment or reassignment within government services. In 2002, plans were approved to build 2,500 housing units over 15 years with an initial phase starting in 2003-2004 that would have involved demolishing some existing homes to make way for new development on land now used for athletic fields adjacent to Lambert Airport which served as Vermilion's original airport until it closed due to budget cuts cited by then-Gov.(Michele Meehan). However this plan never came to fruition and instead developer Bruce Ratliff built 1,000+ apartments over 10 years using state grant money primarily sourced from developers who had interests inside or outside of government service; ultimately creating what is now known as “Ratliff Place” across from PNC Park with its own retail complex covering nearly half a million square feet (145 thousand sq m). "Vermilion Township", "Village", "Post Office", etc., are all historical names given to places today within Hamilton County including Vermilion Township – once home to British settlers in 1811 – Village – renamed after county when it was created – Post Office - named after Michael Chappelden who served as county treasurer from 1840 until his death 1865 - later becoming part of Cincinnati - Ratliff Place - originally developed by Bruce Ratliff using state grant money primarily sourced from developers having interests inside or outside of government service

Vermilion, Ohio is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1827 and named for the color of its bricks. It is located on the eastern edge of the University of Michigan campus. The first settler in Vermilion was David Dixon who arrived in 1827. He built a cabin near what is now downtown Vermilion and cleared land for farming. In 1830, he married Mary Hinkle and they moved to what is today northeast corner of Main and First Streets. They had six children: four boys and two girls. In 1838, Dixon bought 2 acres (0.81 km2) east of Main Street from John Butterfield for $200 dollars cash plus 10 pounds (4 kg) of sterling silver worth $10 per tonne weight (). For many years afterward butter production played a significant role in Vermilion's economy as it still does today with some small farmers still producing buttermilk on property within city limits while others have converted to Case-Clay production using modern methods In 1840 there were only three families living in Vermilion when Captain George Stephenson discovered the Erie Canal across the state line south of Toledo Captain Stephenson donated 4 sections (57 rods each) which make up what are now River Road/Route 9 north of downtown Vermilion; this donation forms part of what makes up Main Street running through downtown area today Sir John Ayrton Sowerby purchased 5 more sections from Captain Stephenson totaling 81 rods giving him admin rights over all lands between Ottawa Hills to that point This set off an immense amount of development as soon as these new rights were granted as vast amounts of land were developed around what is now River Road/Route 9 especially along Canalside where lots sold for upwards of 100 dollars per acre This period also saw increased trade with Canada due to canal construction crews working various nearby farms including those around present day Lansingburgh just west thereof
Vermilion, Ohio was founded in 1824 by Colonel John J. Vermilion. The town was named for the red and black vermilion pigment found in nature. The first post office in Vermilion was established in 1827. In 1830, a school was built and the first teacher taught students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. In 1840, a store and two homes were built, one of which is still standing today. A sawmill was established in 1845 and began production of lumber. In 1850, a Temperance Hall was built and served as a social center for the community until it burned down in 1865. The population of Vermilion grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its location on the edge of an agricultural area that produced corn, beans, wheat, cotton and other crops. Beginning in the early 20th century, however, manufacturing began to decline as businesses moved away from Vermilion because of competition from larger cities such as Cleveland and Akron. By 1920, only two businesses remained within the town limits: a grocery store and a printing shop which published local newspapers until they were discontinued in 2000. In 2000,Vermilion lost its status as an incorporated village when it became part of Cuyahoga County.[1]
