The Marine Corps has been Deployed in Van Wert, Ohio for over fifty years. The deployment started with the Vietnam War and ended with the Iraq War. Marines have fought in many conflicts, both in wars and peacekeeping operations. Throughout their deployments, Marines have brought much joy to the people of Van Wert. Some of the most memorable moments were when they served as birthday present for children in the town or when they donated blood during Operation Christmas Child. There are countless others which cannot be enumerated here. However, I will cover one particular deployment that is particularly noted within the community; The Deployment of Marine Specialty Units 1st Battalion/5th Marines from Cpl. Nathan Lyle's Unit 5/9 at our High School on December 12th, 2004 was legendary! As part of Veterans Day ceremonies conducted at Our Lady of Peace Parish there was a large parade down Main Street preceding dinner at Our Lady of Peace United Methodist Church located across from Stroudsburg Elementary School where we had an outdoor hangar where all units took turns performing fly-by-night airshows including unit insignia and equipment displays while airborneWelcome Home banner hung from each helicopter cockpit! In attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Tim Kratz and City Councilmember Bob Hacket who reside on Main Street just east of our high school! This was also a major event attended by representatives from other nearby towns such as Bethlehem, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton as well as members of neighboring military forces visiting us on this special day! Items included participation by several local businesses in providing refreshments for everyone throughout the evening while entertainment provided by Keith Olbermann (NBC) live satellite feed commentary from his studio located just south west across Maple Avenue! Needless to say it was a great night enjoyed by all!!!
In the marines, there are many different types of marines. There are the combat marines, who fight in war and face danger on a daily basis. They have a lot of training and experience which helps them be effective in battle. Then there are the support marines, who help in battle by providing medical assistance and other supplies. Finally, there are the guard marines, who protect those in harms way. All of these marine types have something different to offer when it comes to gift-giving! Support Marines The supportmarine is an essential part of any military organization because without them things would quickly go wrong if something went wrong with your buddies on front lines! They provide backup services such as providing food or water as needed, acting as an extra set of eyes or ears depending on the situation at hand, etc.– anything that can help make sure your unit function smoothly under pressure! Van Wert is a city in the US state of Ohio. It is located on the border of Butler and Warren counties, and is considered to be part of the Dayton metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,569. The city has been called "the Athens of the Midwest" for its rich cultural heritage and strong education and entertainment opportunities. Van Wert was founded by Germans in 1814 as an agricultural settlement known as Ettenhausen. The name changed to Van Wert in 1847 after a group of men from that town erected a windmill on the river which flows through town. The city became an important center for education in central Ohio during the 19th century, with two high schools (now known as VanWert Community College) being founded here in 1851 and 1865 respectively. In 1893, Van Wert was named one of ten American towns selected to participate in what came to be known as white flight from southern cities due to advances in transportation methods such as railroads. This migration led to increased prosperity for Van Wert, which enjoyed rapid growth following World War I until it collided with other rural communities throughout central Ohio during the Great Depression decade (1929-1939). The Marines quickly grew in popularity and by 1871 had become an full-fledged branch of the military. From their early days as a force dedicated to service to fellow Americans, the Marines have always been known for their unyielding determination and allegiance to country. Since World War II, marines have served both abroad and within our own shores, deploying in every conflict from Vietnam to Afghanistan. Their dedication is unparalleled and their skills are unmatched; they are considered some of the most well-trained soldiers in the world. As we approach Christmas season, it is important that we reflect on all that these men and women have done for us – fromOperation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) through Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Whether it’s serving with distinction at home or fighting beside friends overseas, marines embody everything that America stands for. They are patriots who fight for democracy at home and abroad; they put their lives on the line each day to protect our citizens no matter what. And while there has always been controversy surrounding deployments such as OIF or OEF – including reports of excessive use of force – those who serve deserve our respect no matter what happens during this time of year. It is important that we remember all that these people do so that we may continueserving them with love and gratitude throughout the holiday season!

Van Wert was a small town in central Ohio, located on the Van Wert River. The population was 2,824 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the Dayton metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Van Wert was James Gorman in 1810. He and his family moved from Pennsylvania to Van Wert about 1790. A post office called Van Wert was established in 1828, and remained in operation until it closed in 1902. In 1836, John Pritchard built a log cabin on the riverbank near present-day downtown Van Wert. The first store built there was J.P.'s Store, which opened in 1840. It became a general store and barber shop before becoming a restaurant known as "Pritchard's Palace". In 1886, brick buildings were erected on both sides of Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets for the Methodist Episcopal Church (now First United Methodist Church). The church still uses these structures today as their administrative offices. In 1892, Agris Wright platted what is now West Side Township along the river bank north of downtown Van Wert. This township would become part of Dayton when that city was founded in 1903
Van Wert was founded in 1810 by Nicholas Van Wert and his family. The town became a key center of the early American stagecoach industry. In the late 19th century, it experienced significant growth as a manufacturing center for aluminum products. In the 20th century, Van Wert became an important center for education and professional services.
