The shop served as a place where people could buy and sell coffee. Eventually, the store grew and became known as the Stephenson Coffee House. In 1831, J.C. Still started selling coffee beans from his home in Van Wert. The beans were sold through local merchants and then shipped to different parts of the United States. still operated his business until his death in 1893. His son, Charles Still continued the family-owned business until it closed in 1984. Van Wert is a city in Ohio, United States. The population was 5,224 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Van Wert County. The city is located on the Muskingum River and was founded by English settlers in 1795 as part of the Northwest Territory. The area now known as Van Wert was first settled by religious groups who were seeking to find a new home for their followers after moving from Pennsylvania to what is now Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War. In 1795, English settlers began arriving in what is now Van Wert and established a small community on the banks of the Muskingum River. The initial settler group consisted of about twenty-five men and women who built two log homes and named their settlement "Van Wert". They started farming land which they farmed until 1805 when they bought some additional land from Native Americans and commenced construction of a large brick courthouse and jail which still stands today within walking distance of both the mayor's office (now called City Hall) and downtown. In 1812, Van Wert became part of newly organized Warren County, becoming one of its five townships. By 1830, there were over one hundred residents living in town with only a handful working on farms or fishing riverside operations that supplied food for local markets back then. By 1840, many residents had moved away to new settlements near Cleveland while others sold their properties to settle more permanently in present day VanWert Township including many notable families such as those who formed what are now known as Kapp Brothers Department Store heirs David Kapp (the father), John Kapp (the son) & Maurice Kapp (the grandson). In 1845, following annexation by Athens Township, much larger Athens Township had also grown up around it with 7500 citizens when it merged into Warren County with VanWert following its incorporation date that year. In 1870 through 1880 efforts were made to increase trade between Athens Township & Warren County resulting in several merchant vessels docking athens dockyards each week bringing goods such as lumber, cottonseed oil products & flour back intoWarrencounty along with people coming out for work each day experiencing an improved economy due to increased transportation options available then making Athenstown an important center for commerce throughout central Ohio including serving as America's commuter town linking all parts of central OH excluding Dayton/Cleveland via railroads throughout most of the 20th century without losing any economic vitality or importance despite this growth; however this period ended abruptly when Northwestern Railroad arrivedheidrupting trade along I-71 corridor connecting Dayton/Cleveland with Columbus/Middletown cutting off access to Athens township shoppers from all parts eastern OH&c rather than providing better transportation alternatives like interstates allowing Cincinnati commuters easy access shopping mall directly adjacent while preventing Daytonites from easily reaching downtown so again ending any major impact these developments may have had on Athenstown since I-71 Corridor services stoppedaccessingtown centre effective Dec 1990 .)
