Tactical coffee has a long and colorful history in Urbana, Ohio. The first known cup of tactical coffee was brewed by Captain John Gage at the Urbana Coffee House on November 4, 1847. Captain Gage was an American Revolutionary War veteran and officer in the Continental Army. He founded the coffee house as a place for soldiers to gather to drink tea and share news and ideas. Since its inception, Urbana Coffee House has been home to some of the most famous names in the industry- such as Joe Roosa, Bob Dylan, and Colonel Sanders. In 1984, Captain Gage's son John D. Gage Jr. founded Just Koffee with his father's ashes to continue the family tradition of brewing great coffee that is enjoyed by all in Urbana- including students, professionals, military members and their families.

Urbana, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Champaign County. The population was 509,821 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in Illinois after Chicago. It is also one of the five cities that make up Springfield, Ill., which has a population of 1 million people. Urbana is home to UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and other large universities as well as numerous small businesses and professional organizations. The first European settlement in what would become Urbana was by French Canadians who came there in 1808 to survey a route for a fur traders' road from Prairie du Chien to St. Louis. They named their new town "Bironville" after Jean-Baptiste Biron, captain general of Canada's forces in 1804–1805 during the Napoleonic Wars while on military duty at Fort Miamis near modern day Chicago Heights. Not long after they arrived, however, some settlers moved into this area so they could get closer to their homes back east on the Mississippi River because corn became scarce near Cahokia (now part of downtown Chicago). In 1815, when Champaign County was organized, Bironville became its first capital; about twenty families lived there until 1800 when all but one left for Champaign County's new townships west of present day Urbana due to dwindling crop yields from those areas following an unwelcome freeze during 1816–1817TG1/2 winter (−7°F (−24°C), nearly unprecedented for then-northcentral Illinois). In 1850s residents abandoned Bironville followed by most others within Champaign County as railroads were extended through central Illinois and crops began becoming more profitable elsewhere with production moving inland out of reach for many rural residents whose livelihoods had depended upon agriculture before railways came along………. By 1880 only two families still lived there….. Most likely because development pressures from larger communities and especially urban areas nearby made it difficult or impossible for farmers to keep up with technical advances leading to increased productivity on large scale factory farms….. Despite having no evidence whatsoever that any cultures or languages once thrived hereabouts prior thereto whatsoever have been lost,[4] some claim[5] without good evidence either way…] that certain Native American tribes knew about this place from various accounts handed down orally over time…………………." [emphasis added] In 1893 UIUC opened its doors after being founded by UI professor John Pemberton under charter from OPUS (the original college organization behind Peter Witt College). After years struggling financially he sold his shares in 1898 and donated them all back to UIUC so it could be made into an university proper rather than just another school affiliated withUIUC like earlier incarnations including Wittenberg (founded 1793), Lafayette (founded 1795), Beloit (founded 1801) among others………….. Despite increasing competition form other universities such as Northwestern UniversityChicago State University Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis etc.,UIUC has always remained one of America’s top research institutions…………………………………. With approximately 100 Nobel laureates affiliated with UIUC alone[6],UIC continues annuallyto contribute significantlyto scientific progress throughout North America
In the early days of espresso, coffee beans were ground up and brewed using a mortar and pestle. The first coffeehouses in Italy began serving coffee on small scale in the late 18th century. Italian immigrants who arrived in America during this time brought their favorite Italian roast to new American shores. The popularity of espresso soon spread throughout the United States, and by 1830 more than 30 coffee houses had opened up in New York City alone. However, it wasn’t until 1795 that a Frenchman named Pierre-Jacques Conte developed what is now known as an espresso machine, which allowed for more precise brewing of coffee than was possible before. This innovation led to increased sales for café owners and helped make espresso one of America’s most popular drinks. While other countries such as Spain and Germany enjoyed similar levels of success with their own versions of espresso machines, the United States maintained its position as the dominant force in the world when it came to coffee drinking habits. In fact, during World War II many American troops drank caffeinated beverages like café au lait (coffee with milk) to help keep them alert during long deployments overseas. Today, even though espresso has become widely accepted as a key component of modern morning caffeine rites all over the world, its origins remain largely shrouded in mystery. In this paper we will explore some of the key events that led to today’s tactical Coffee history; from its humble beginnings as part of daily soldiering rituals to becoming one of America’s most beloved beverage exports after WWII.

Urbana, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Champaign County. The population was 133,831 at the 2010 census. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, about 12 miles (19 km) west-southwest of Chicago and 34 miles (57 km) north-northwest of Indianapolis. Urbana became an incorporated town in 1859, becoming a city in 1907. The name Urbana comes from French for "the plums" because early settlers found fruit trees in abundance thereabouts. The first settler in what is now Urbana was Alexander Shields who arrived in 1814 as part of the Illini Expedition under General John Custer. He built his home near what is now State Street and First Avenue and named it Shieldsville after himself and it remains one of Urbana's most famous landmarks today. Other early settlers included James Hickey, Ebenezer Loomis, Moses Myers and John Whitehead among others. In 1834, Dennis Bogan moved to Urbana from Kentucky with his family and established a mill on East Fifth Street that still stands today as Brown & Bogan Mill Complex. This mill was one of several operated by Bogan throughout his career including those at 1010 Wabash Avenue (now Superior Ave.), 901 Eashing Road (now Elmwood Ave.) and 1003 Prairie Ave.. In 1860, Urbana had its first election as an incorporated town with Jno Sibley as its first mayor . On July 8th 1861 when all new towns were admitted to the Union under Article 1 Section 7 thereof by Governor Richard Yates it becomes known as "Urbana". At this time there were only six other towns east or southeast of Chicago which formed Illinois' Second City District following suit on May 30th 1871 which saw three more towns incorporate: Quincy (May 14th), Elgin (July 3rd), Rockford (August 15th). These five original cities continued to operate until they all merged into Chicago on January 1st 1903 when they were reorganized into Cook County according to Act No 98-527 entitled "Organization Of The County Of Cook And Its Towns." It should be noted that while Urbana may have been founded initially by Alexander Shields, James Hickey or Ebenezer Loomis these individuals are not considered founding fathers* due to their lack any documentary evidence testifying otherwise – instead they are recognized collectively as “First Settlers”*. *Founding Fathers: Alexander Shields - July 8 1861; James Hickey - August 15 1830; Ebenezer Loomis - January 6 1840; Moses Myers - October 25 1830
