Troy is an unincorporated community in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The first settlement in Troy was made on the site of what is now the library and post office. A school was built here in 1869, but it closed due to financial difficulties. In 1902, a new school building was erected and named for General George Washington Morrison, who had served as Mayor of Cincinnati from 1901 to 1903. The townspeople built a small store on Main Street and continued to use the school building until 1942 when it burned down. A small hamlet began to form around Troy after World War II, when many veterans returned home from Europe and started businesses in their new homes. By 1969, there were only six residents living in Troy – four men and two women – but by 2002 there were over 350 people residing in town with a variety of businesses including a gas station/market/cafeteria/laundromat (the first such business ever established within Troy), a doctor's office (Dr. Charles Hirschman opened his practice here in 1982), and one restaurant (Cleveland Chinese Restaurant). In 2002, local citizens voted to annex portions of neighboring Parkersburg into Troy so that they could be closer to jobs available outside of Cincinnati proper; this annexation resulted in the current population size of 1,471 people just shy of 2% larger than township level population size at 1,460 according to the 2010 census data published by the Township government website www3s3ctroyOhio . This has led some people to question whether or not Troy would remain an unincorporated community if annexation happened elsewhere within Township limits - particularly since most businesses located within town are operated by employees or family members thereof rather than individuals themselves...some have speculated that if annexation did happen elsewhere within Township limits then commercial development would likely take place near Routes 31 & 33 which run through downtown along both sides of I-71 while tracts adjacent thereto would be used for agricultural purposes primarily……..due largely to its location between I-71 & Cincy proper; residents continue howeverto maintain their intent not TO annexed…..In any event future annexations will almost certainly result either due directly theretofrom redevelopment activities taking place adjacent thereto or as part of related efforts by Township officialsVISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION

Troy, Ohio is a small town in Summit County, Ohio. The population was 2,593 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Troy was founded in 1811 by Nicholas Trott and his brothers as a log cabin settlement on the Scioto River. In 1812, the Treaty of Greenville was signed between Great Britain and America which ceded what would become Summit County to America. In 1814, Troy's first post office opened after being organized by then-Governor Nicholas Trott. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Scioto River and its access to transportation including a ferry service from Akron to Troy. By 1830, Troy had a school and suffered from an lack of resources due to deforestation that occurred in nearby Cleveland during this time period. However, by 1840, the town had two churches and four stores with a population of 1,500 people. In 1851, however, when it became clear that Cleveland would soon become one of the major cities in Ohio, Trott decided to move his business headquarters away from Cleveland so his family could live closer to them while he pursued other interests within the state government. A year later he sold his share in Troy for $10 000 dollars to Elias Bicknell who developed it into one of Summit County's most successful businesses with over 100 employees at its peak in 1907). The once small town has seen some significant changes over time such as becoming home to greater metropolitan areas like Akron/Canton and Toledo; however it retains much of its historical character including its Dutch Reformed church which is still standing today despite numerous damage attempts throughout the years (it has even been listed on National Register of Historic Places twice); its pioneer culture which can be seen throughout various artifacts found around town such as clothing buttons made out of arrowheads or walnut shells; as well as its vibrant local economy which has included manufacturing such as shoeshine parlors or soap making; agricultural production such as cornmeal mills; and many more businesses that have come and gone over time including Pabst Brewing Company which moved their brewing operations from Cincinnati en route to becoming one of Asia's largest beer companies (it now operates out of Weyerhaeuser Brewery located just outside Columbus); munitions manufacturer Armstrong Whitworth & Co.; publishing house Grosse Pointe Press; movie theater Theatre de la Salle (now known as Regal Cinemas); ice cream parlor Dairy Queen; several schools including Stroudsburg-Licking High School located just east of town off I-670; among others. Troy was founded in 1795 by John Halleck. In 1801, it became the capital of Ohio Territory. Troy served as the capital from 1802 to 1803 and from 1825 to 1830. The city was relocated to Cincinnati in 1833, and Troy resumed its original name in that year.
