Trotwood, Ohio is a small town located in the southwestern corner of Ohio, just east of the state line with Indiana. The population was 5,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The first coffee beans were grown in Trotwood in 1847 by John Crighton and his brother-in-law James Caldwell. Coffee beans were brought overland from Virginia by wagonloads and sold at farmers’ markets throughout central Kentucky and west Tennessee before being sent to Trotwood for processing. A largecendent of this early coffee industry is the Caldwell family who continue to produce quality coffeebeans today. In 1927, Myron Caldwell founded The Caldwell Coffee Company which became one of America's largest roasters and marketers of high-quality coffee products. Today, The Caldwell Coffee Company continues to sell its products direct to consumers through stores and online platforms around the world. Throughout its history, Trotwood has been an important center for coffee production and marketing as it has developed two significant regional commercial agricultural communities: The Pee Dee Valley Agricultural Experiment Station (PVEAS), which grew corn, soybeans, cotton, haymesseed oilseedlings experiments in 2009 -2010; and Highland Farms Inc., a cooperative grocery store chain that began selling roasted beans in 1984 onsite at their two Racine factories - now known as Highland Park Farms LLC - making it one of only a few cooperatives remaining statewide that still operate major retail stores devoted exclusively to green beans!

Trotwood coffee history starts with the first roasting of coffee beans in the town in 1838. The town was founded by Reverend George Wetherbee, who ran a small farm near the present-day intersection of State Route 111 and State Route 6. Wetherbee began roasting coffee beans on his property, which he named "The Coffee House." By 1845, Wetherbee had started selling coffee to local residents and business owners. In 1850, Wetherbee moved his business to what is now Trotwood Square. Coffee became an important part of Trotwood's economy and social life beginning in the early 1800s. According to one story, when Trotwood was first settled, "the men gathered around a fire and roasted their victuals from the acorns that they found under the trees." Coffee served as a cultural symbol for Trotwood during this time period. During prohibition in Ohio in 1920-1921, many businesses closed their doors because people could not afford to buy alcohol without paying taxes. However, some Trotwood businessmen refused to close their businesses despite being taxed 50% more than other businesses statewide. Some of these businessmen later opened up their own cafes after Prohibition ended. Today,Trotwood still produces high quality coffeebeans that are sold throughout Greater Cleveland region.
Trotwood is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, located about 20 miles north of Cleveland. The population was 1,724 at the 2010 census. Trotwood is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Trotwood were John and Sarah Trotwood who came from Connecticut in 1788. Their children were James, Hannah, Amos and Nancy. In 1813 land was acquired by General David Porter for $2,000 from Nicholas Henshaw. General Porter set out to develop the area and named it for his friend Major-General James A. Trotwood who had died suddenly while Campaigning against Seminoles near Pensacola Alabama on July 16th 1813 aged 28 years old leaving behind two young daughters - Mary Ann and Eleanor - as his widow's sole heirs with title to all the lands within 12 miles of Winchester Georgia where he resided with his father-in-law Colonel Nathaniel Greene also taking an interest in these lands until their deaths leaving Mary Ann as guardian of both girls under her sole guardianship while they resided with General Porter until their respective deaths aged 21 and 24 years respectively; Mary Ann continuing to reside there & handle all business affairs connected therewith during her minority excepting such action as she may take directly with reference to said minors when practicable without the consent of General Porter's widow & guardian ad litem hereafter mentioned In 1827 some families moved into what is now Riverwest which became a part of Trotwood when that community was organized on December 5th 1827 by order of Mayor Denny Fenton after residents of Riverwest offered land for a school district. On January 8th 1830 Rev Wm Cushman arrived from Boston bearing news that Yale University had opened up shop in New Haven Conn & wanted students from Ohio but no money would be given them so he started preaching classes at Holy Cross Church adjoining Village Hall (& today's Kroger store). Classes began on January 10th 1830 & continued every day through February 6th 1830 averaging 25 pupils per class including 2 boys who each took 3 classes which averaged 30 pupils total! No one knows how many people attended those classes or how much money was raised but enough evidently got together to buy books (printed materials) for the new schoolhouse built next door in 1832 costing $60 including ground costs then +$3/hr p&p w/out express service cost! Reverend Cushman resigned effective March 8th 1830 upon learning that village officials intended to erect a brick school building on lot donated by Captain John Gifford opposite Village Hall instead & this plan never eventuated because lots around river west went off CRK for farming purposes between 1833-1839 On November 5th 1840 vote was taken asking residents whether they desired annexation into Huron County due to increasing population density caused by shipping interests along Lake Erie since 1800+. Overwhelmingly yes votes resulted giving rise to the idea that Trotwood might like to become its own county entity although no plans ever developed beyond that On October 9th 1850 decision was made by Board of Commissioners having jurisdiction over townships within Huron County not subject thereto (i.e., Township 11 North) apportionment being made among other township boards therein pursuant thereto makingTrootwood Township 11 North apportioned thereby making it one half share only amongst precincts therein according thereto – though no formal deed ever reached our hands setting forth this fact A petition signed by fifty electorsof trot wood dated October 15 1865 requesting annexation into Lorain County failed due largely to lack thereof support however some citizens did sign it In 1870 Alfred Smerdon purchased 90 acres northeast corner OF Routes 422 nwz & 434 swz trot wood becomingownerof Tract #405 comprising parts OF tracts #409 @ 411 inch wide x 122 inches long @ 0% value per acre remaining unoccupied until sold adjacent property Including Copyrights To Harveys Mill Now owned By Harold Brown Sr.) During 1920s thru 1940s Alfred Smerdon operated Harveys Mill using power generated from turbines located on tract #405 . After World War II mill closed down due early closure Of Allouche Dam lake level rose causing water levels inside mill structure TOO HIGH creating considerable liability Thus Mills trustees decided To Sell dam privileges TO syrup producers rather then rebuild mill accordance With approved plans submitted BY SYRUP PRODUCERS OWNING COMPANY TO LEGISLATURE PURSUANT TO REQUEST OF COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Trotwood, Ohio is a town in the west side of the state of Ohio, United States. The population was 8,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Trotwood was founded in 1798 by veterans of the American Revolution and their families who had taken up arms against British rule in what became known as the Northwest Territory. In 1814, it was named after General James K. Polk, president of the United States during that year's presidential campaign. The first post office opened in Trotwood on October 4, 1814. In 1825, it became a village and then a town in 1829 when it merged with neighboring Chillicothe to form an enlarged city called Cincinnati. In 1865–1869, Trotwood experienced a time of great change as its citizens fought for independence from America's southern neighbor during the American Civil War; this period is often referred to as "The Reconstruction Era." Afterward, Trotwood resumed its normal growth pattern until World War II brought rapid industrialization and urban sprawl to much of nearby Harrisonburg and other towns such as Youngstown which then lost theirusterity; this led to increased competition between these communities for limited land parcels which sometimes led to race-based hostilities or economic boycotts against one another. During World War II Trotwood joined forces with other local communities—most notably Youngstown—to form what came to be known as "The Big Three" (Cincinnati, Cleveland and Akron)—a group that successfully opposed Axis aggression on two occasions: Operation Overlord (the Normandy invasion) and Battle of The Bulge (the Allied offensive against Nazi Germany). However similar cooperative initiatives were not repeated postwar; instead each community continued its own individual dynamic characterized by closed-door politics and aggressive business practices characteristic of smalltown America at its most competitive stage. By 1990Troptwood had slipped back into pre-war levels of economic decline although efforts have been made recently to revive some aspects thereof such as arts & culture
The first white settler in Trotwood was James H. Dickey in 1836. The town was named for Colonel John Trotwood, a military officer who served in the War of 1812. In 1848, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his army from Chattanooga to run the Mississippi River and invaded Kentucky and Tennessee. When he reached Trotwood, he ordered its inhabitants to leave or be killed. A group of men formed a resistance movement and managed to save their homes and stay alive until they were able to find new ones.
