The air force deployed a gift history in Trenton, Ohio on December 24, 1941. The gift history was the result of an initiative by Colonel Jack Snyder, the commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (HHS) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Snyder wanted to show appreciation for the military services of local citizens by sending Christmas gifts to them every year. He started a tradition that continues to this day and has given out over 1,500 gifts since 1981.
Trenton is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 25,844 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-largest city in Ohio and one of its seven metropolitan statistical areas. Trenton is located on the Scioto River, about 30 miles (48 km) north of Cleveland and 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Cincinnati.
The first European settlers in what is now Trenton were white Americans from Pennsylvania who came to explore the area in 1796 during the Northwest Territory era. They named their new community after George Washington's home town of Trenton, New Jersey. The settlement rapidly grew and by 1800 had 2,500 inhabitants, but it was not until 1813 that a post office was established at Trenton with John Cushing as mail carrier. In 1837–38, construction began on an Erie Canal which connected Toledo to Akron; this stimulated increased trade and development in Trenton and other parts of western Ohio.
During World War II, Trenton became a strategic bombed-out city; although most residents did not survive bombings raids conducted by American parachute troops during that conflict, many businesses were destroyed or heavily damaged by aerial bombardment including several banks which still stand today including First National Bank & Trust Company (now part of JPMorgan Chase), United States Steel Corporation plant #2 job training center (now home to Youngstown State University), Thomas Edison Electric Institute plant #1 auto body shop (later part of Midas Automotive Group), Mack Truck plants 1 through 4 production line assembly line production line for military vehicles starting 1945, three movie theaters: One showing "Hi Steve" starring Don Rickles before he moved to Hollywood two years later and one shown "My Cousin Totoro" also before moving to California four years later; all but one theater still stand today!
In 1951 sections 3 and 4 along Clinton Avenue between Highways 422nd Street/Clinton Avenue eastboundwidestandingwereconverted into housing when United States Steel Corporation built its plant there – then America’s largest steel producer – followed by General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Company et al.; these developments helped spur further growth around Clinton Avenue while contributing importantly to Trenton’s designation as a “Moderate sized City” in 1990.

Trenton is a small, unincorporated community in Union Township, Wayne County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,059 at the 2010 census. Trenton was laid out in 1837 by John Troup and named for General James Wilson Trent.
The first settler in Trenton was Daniel Freeman who homesteaded on what is now the east side of Main Street. In 1840, John Denton erected a log cabin on what is now the west side of Main Street.
In 1848, George Wertz built a small frame cabin near the center of town on what is now North Avenue. By 1860, there were six buildings in Trenton: a store (owned by Elisha Drake), a blacksmith shop (owned by George Heninger), a schoolhouse (owned by Samuel Ransom), an gristmill (owned by Jacob McNeely), and two homes (one owned by Henry Ahern).
In 1865, Alfred Lankford built a new house on the northeast corner of Market and Center Streets. It remains one of Trenton's most popular tourist attractions today. In 1868-69, three teams of men worked to build a road from Dayton to Sparta using logs that had been cut down in nearby rivalships – one team each from Fort Recovery and Middletown. This project became known as "The Great Road".
In 1870-71, four families moved into what is now the north end of town; these were Abram Cramer (), Abraham Douglass (), Nicholas Pappas () and their wives (); John Painter (); Isaac Smith (); and his wife Mary (). They brought with them their livestock which included 20 head of cattle (), 10 hogs (), 12 pigs (), 6 chickens (), 2 cows (), 2 horses () and 0 sheep ().
Theophilus Gibbs arrived later that year with his family from Newtown Square PA (). He also brought with him his plow horse called Harry (). Theophilus started work clearing land for farming around this time and began distributing tracts through local newspapers such as "The Commercial Appeal" . In 1872-73 he built up some skills as an architect while living at 219 Elmwood Ave., acting as office manager for developer Edward Sanger . He designed many early commercial buildings in town including the State House (1875) . When Sanger died suddenly shortly before its completion in 1876 it was replaced by City Hall which still stands today within walking distance of Trenton's downtown area.. After years of growth due to railroads coming through town along US Route 422 corridor it reached its peak during World War I when production peaked at 1 million barrels per day (.251 gallons per minute). However since then it has declined gradually due to technological advances; however recently development outside city limits has resurrected somenative industry including metal fabrication
In 1811, the area that is now Trenton was part of the Northwest Territory. In 1813, it became a part of Ohio. In 1814, it became a part of Indiana. On January 1, 1792, Trenton was organized as a town in Ross County by James Caldwell and others. It had 797 residents.
