In 1998, United States Coffee company merged with Roastery International Corporation to form Starbucks Corporation under Schultz’s leadership. At Starbucks, he decided to focus on developing new flavor profiles for his company’s coffee products while also expanding its production capabilities within its roasting facilities in Seattle and Burbank, California respectively. As part of this effort, Schultz initiated a program where he purchased 100% of Catastrophic Roasters Inc., a small Canadian café chain that specializes primarily in espresso drinks with strong body notes similar to those found in battle-tested Tactical Coffees from years ago!
