Tiffin, Ohio is a small town in Stark County, Ohio. It is the most populous town in Stark County and the second largest municipality in the county after Canton. The population of Tiffin was 9,757 at the 2010 census. Tiffin is located on the southern edge of Cleveland and its downtown contains one of the oldest shopping districts in America. The Mayor's office is located in downtown Tiffin. The first settler to come to Tiffin was Levi Dickinson who founded a fur trading post there circa 1812. There were several other settlements before Tiffin was platted as a village by John Gregg on November 5, 1825. In 1827, architect James Pomeroy designed and built what is now known as Town Hall Street which led from Main Street to his house on Prospect Avenue (now Court Avenue). On July 13, 1830, Tiffin voted to incorporate as a village with a population of 507; it did not ratify incorporation until October 10th following an appeal by Gregg. In 1836-37 when populism ruled across much of North America due to Andrew Jackson's election as president that year and land speculation ran rampant during this time period many farms were sold or mortgaged for very high prices making it difficult for farmers to keep up with demand for their products despite increased competition from transportation companies such as railroads and canals. This raised tensions between villagers and ranchers who had access to more farmland than anyone else at that time especially since settlers were increasingly moving into rural areas in search of better soils and climate conditions which would eventually lead them into cities like Cleveland where they could find work opportunities far away from their familiesfolk infrastructure development continued apace during this time period with continuous building projects such as Aurelius Church (1847), Masonic Lodge No 2 (1849), Post Office Building (1850), Tiffany & Co.'s debut store at Fourth Street and Euclid Avenue (1853-55) all without Tammany Hall intervening; these activities helped spur economic growth for Tiffin throughout most of the 19th century In 1857-58 when Woodward built his first railroad line through Stark County he also contributed significantly towards developing freight yards west of Tiffin along Railroad Road northward concurrent with construction of new churches including First Presbyterian Church (founded 1860) then Second Presbyterian Church (founded 1862) both located on State Route 611 just outside town limits today . Thereafter various businesses established themselves around those facilities including Tiffany & Co., Cookstown Glass Works, Furniture Warehouse Company etcetera creating an ever growing industrial sector within townlimits which continues even today

The area that makes up the town was first settled by Native Americans in the 1700s. It became a county seat in 1828 and remained so until it merged with Lucas County in 1907. In 1900, Tiffin had a population of 1,813 and by 2010 it had shrunk to 1,547 residents. However, because of its location close to Cleveland and other major cities, Tiffin has seen some growth over the years as tourists have moved into the area for its natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle. As one of only two towns in Ohio without a hospital (the other being Independence), Tiffin has been used as an important medical center for surrounding counties. In 1971, when neighbouring Lucas County built their own hospital complex on Parkersburg Road (just outside of town), Tiffin officials appealed unsuccessfully to be given same-day access to this new facility. Finally, due to budget constraints within Lucas County, Tiffany’s hospital closed its doors for good on December 15th 2002 after more than 50 years of service! Since then, much effort has been made by both Kasich administration and local businesses in order to keep Tiffany open as an emergency services center should something happen near or inside city limits- such as an earthquake or fire! Despite these challenges (and ongoing construction projects) Tiffany remains one of America’s most popular tourist destinations thanks to its beautiful scenery and relaxed lifestyle
