Tiffin, Ohio is a small town located in the heart of the state of Ohio. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census and has grown steadily over the years. Tiffin is home to many businesses, including two large shopping malls - one in the downtown area and one off of I-75. Tiffin has been inhabited for several hundred years and was originally called "Tiffinville." The first settler to arrive in Tiffin was George Washington, who founded a farm there in 1797. In 1807, Tiffin became part of what would later become Northwest Territory. In 1813, Tiffin became a village and was renamed "Tiffin." It received its current name from General James K. Polk when he visited the town on July 4th, 1846, during his victory tour through Ohio. The local paper industry began to take form in Tiffin in the early 1920s. A group of businessmen pooled their money and bought an old printing plant on West Main Street for $5,000. They started printing newspapers called The Daily Review and Gazette until they were forced to close by prohibition laws passed by Ohio's Republican Party late in that decade. However, business picked up again soon after repeal came about as people discovered how easy it was to get liquor without having to go through customs or buy licenses from other states like Kentucky or Tennessee which were still legal under Prohibition! The paper industry continued expanding throughout the 1930s until World War II stopped it completely; however, starting around 1945 some small businesses revived it with new presses thanks to war wounds being repaired quickly!
