The first coffee shop in Tallmadge was opened by Mr. and Mrs. John Pemberton in 1892. Coffee was so expensive then that they started selling it to support their family through subsistence farming. However, over time, this grew into a retail business with more than 20 employees today. Today, Mrs. Pemberton continues to operate her business as a gift store and does not sell coffee any longer; however, her son still oversees operations at their old location on University Avenue which is now home to The Gristmill Cafe & Coffeehouse. As one of the most significant businesses in town for over 100 years - starting with just five employees - it is no wonder that there is such a rich history behind Fresh Roasted Coffee!

Tallmadge Coffee has been roasting coffee since 1892. The first batch of beans were roasted on a farm in the town of Tallmadge. By 1907, the business had moved to its current location, and soon began to produce coffee for local restaurants and cafes. In 1951, Tallmadge became one of the first places in Ohio to roast whole bean coffee.
Tallmadge is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located in the Greater Cincinnati area. The population was 29,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton-Middletown-Beavercreek metropolitan statistical area and is governed by a Mayor/Council form of government with a mayor presiding over council meetings and making all decisions affecting city affairs. The first permanent settler in what would become Tallmadge was John Ralston in 1792. He named his land for General James Wilkinson, who had led American forces against Native Americans during the French and Indian War. The first white child born to George Washington and Martha Washington was born there on December 6, 1795, and named George Washington Jr.. In 1801, Democrat James Kapp founded Kapp's Tavern which became one of the most prominent tourist attractions in town until its closure in 1971. In 1814, Samuel Davenport founded Davenport & Company which built some of the firstLocated today’s downtown buildings were constructed between 1817-1820 using limestone mined from nearby Monon Cave; this process has been called “the great lime rush” because so much limestone was needed to build these structures that not enough could be bought at market prices to cover costs alone. This caused many businesses across central Ohio to close their doors due to competition from new mines opening up around them—a phenomenon known as “limestone famine” (see also: Monon Cave). In 1840, Drury & Company bought out Davenport & Company and began construction on what would become PNC Arena (now FirstEnergy Stadium). At that time only two blocks long it included three stories tall office towers now visible from near every block south of I-675 including downtown Tallmadge Village as well as several blocks east of State Route 149A . Rockbridge Heights followed suit soon after becoming one of Dayton's largest neighborhoods outside central business district by 1850 when PNC merged with Fifth Third Bank creating Dayton Financial Group Incorporated which developed shopping centers along I-675 north beyond University Drive into Bucyrus Township while continuing operations on Canfield Road until it shuttered in 1978 following a merger with First National Bank northeast of campus into First One Financial Corporation (). demolition started immediately within 100 feet or so of building entrances resulting in hundreds if not thousands more homeless inside demolished properties than before This process continues today with an estimated 175+ buildings still standing vacant or left unloved throughout Downtown Dayton ; sometimes referred to as "The Hill" or "The Strip". Today's skyline could fit comfortably within City limits without any demolitions taking place however current plans call for continued redevelopment even though many vacant buildings remain

Tallmadge is a small city in southwestern Ohio, United States. The population was 8,651 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. Tallmadge has been part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area since 1907 and was once part of the Great Lakes region. The earliest known inhabitants of what is now Tallmadge were the Shawnees. They first settled in what is now Cambridge Township in 1788 and then moved to what is now Tallmadge Township in 1802. In 1814, they founded the town of Highland Heights on land acquired from Colonel John Starkweather, who had died during an expedition against Native Americans near present-day Liverpool, Ohio. The town name derived from high ground just east of where it stands today called "Hillsdale." In 1827, Major General George Washington's army passed through Tallmadge on its way to Battle Creek during their retreat from Detroit after his Grande Armée victory over Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo (1815). General John Adams attended a public dinner given by President James K. Polk at which General Washington delivered remarks about American policy towards Europe while seated between General Lafayette and Madame de Staël (1763-1800), French queen consort and hostess for many years as well as member of several important diplomatic bodies including France's ambassador to Russia and charged with conveying news back to Paris concerning French politics and international events; she later served as First Lady of America (1829-1831). In 1847, when United States Senator Isaac Myles came down with brain fever after attending a meeting in Boston he sent forDoctor Philips without consulting his wife; her husband having gone into Boston for supplies DR Philips arrived too late for senator but found Mrs Myles lying prostrate on the floor & Dr Phillips trying vainly to get up Aide Memoire states "Senator Myles received excellent care" although this story may be apocryphal due to lack of documentary evidenceSupporting this account is another document which says DR Philips remained bedridden most of that day & night" A post office was established at Tallmadge in 1857, but it failed within two months because no one wanted to deliver mail there because they thought it would rain all day long! Eventually a depot was built close by which continues operation today providing service both local residents and out-of-towners alike. In 1870s some famous citizens such as Father Edward Jorgensen started living here including prohibitionist William Jennings Bryan also moving back& forth across state lines during prohibition debates giving him an interesting perspective on US law enforcement decisions During World War I veteran Alumni Hospital patient USS Tacoma Auxiliary stopped refueling operations offshore so Ensign Harry Watters RN relocated crewmembers hospital personnel took personal items 2 storerooms & storeroom aft 3 single beds belowdecks stepped pyramids onto holdalls taking up space astern dockyards completed July 1919 @ $2 million costDD On December 5th1920 Mayor Quiggaman announced plans Fora new City Hall To Be Constructed On 400 Front Street Which Would Replace The Old One That Had Been destroyed By Fire 194 More Years Ago! This New City Hall Was Completed In 1923 And Became A National Historical Landmark
