The United States Navy deployed a gift to the people of Afghanistan in the form of over 1,500 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables. The shipment was made possible through the generosity of local businesses and individuals who donated food products. The donation was placed aboard the USS Mount Whitney (LHD 3) during an deployment to Afghanistan in October 2009. The Naval Forces Expeditionary Force’s first fruits and vegetables distribution campaign took place on September 14th, 2009 at two different sites throughout Afghanistan. The event was organized by Marine Corps Forces Central Command with support from Naval Forces Europe (NAVFOR E). For this effort, nearly 2,000 Soldier- civilian volunteers contributed produce from more than 50 local stores located throughout Kandahar Province. This initiative not only helped provide Afghan citizens with necessary sustenance but also supported Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, which is currently ongoing in Afghanistan. Since its inception in 2001, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM has had an impact on thousands of Afghans who have been displaced due to violence or natural disasters. In addition to providing essential staples for Afghan families, this program has also generated jobs for locals as well as brought smiles to faces of troops and civilians alike. Thanks toOperation ENDURING FREEDOM – both military and civilian – more than 5 million Afghans now enjoy access to quality food that keeps them healthy and safe.

Sylvania, Ohio is a small town in the United States. The population was 3,651 at the 2010 census. Sylvania is located in Putnam County and is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. It is bordered to the north by Medina County, to the east by Lake Erie, and to the south by Holmes County. The name Sylvania comes from a Delaware Indian word meaning "the place where tall trees abound." There are several Tall Trees State Park locations within driving distance of Sylvania including: Big Sandy Historic Site (just off I-271), Sawmill Hill State Park (just off US-41) and White Sands National Monument (about 15 minutes west of town on I-71). The first settlers in what would become Sylvania arrived in 1814 when Captain David Wilkinson and his party founded a trading post on what is now known as Wilkinson's Corner. By 1825, there were over 50 people living in Sylvania and it had its own courthouse. The townspeople built their first frame house in 1827. One of the early businesses was a gristmill which operated until 1858 when it was destroyed by fire. In 1830, James Waddell erected an hotel called "The Brittanee" which still stands today on village square just east of Main Street. In 1834, John Fenton moved his family into one of these original frame houses on West Main Street. From this location he directed much business activity for much of southern Putnam County during that era before moving downriver to Xenonville in 1850 after purchase of lands there from Jabez Bondurant. When Ohio became an independent state on Dec 12th, 1907 all property belonging to [Putnam] county remained with [Cleveland] county except for 2 parcels located near Village Square containing 4 lots each totaling 22 acres which were sold to George Haferbeck for $2 cash considerations with 1 acre reserved as site for public school building etc… On March 12th 1909 new deed book showing change from owner field number 105/1 same lot being conveyed to Mrs J A Gartner who interestingly also held title deeds for home owned since before 1800s declared forfeit due age etc…. This has never been verified but may be true as Mrs Gartner died young without children so could not have kept title or land if it reverted back under her ownership An ordinance spelling out that no public school would be established within 10 miles limits of Village Square passed both houses January 5th 1911 signed by Mayor Edward C Reilly reading: "Whereas many citizens desire suchestablishment; Therefore be it Ordained That no public schools shall be maintained within ten miles limits thereof." In 1912 two more homes were added onto this square block making up total six dwellings before finally closing shop effective December 31st 1914 with pupils having withdrawn form village square following World War I while munitions plants nearby produced large quantities lead & other toxics particles inhalable even today birds & mammals can’t survive close proximity

Sylvania, Ohio is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,451 at the 2010 census. Sylvania has been OCW (Ontario Confederation of Women) since 1916 and is one of the few original towns in the county. The town was founded by women who wanted to create an organization that would help support other woman's rights issues. Sylvania was originally named "Moses" after local president Moses Wister and then renamed "Sylvania" in honor of General James H. Wilson during World War I as part of theUSA-Canada effort to gain war reparations for Canada's losses in that conflict. The first post office in Sylvania opened on July 15, 1872, and remained open until it closed on October 14, 1912. In 1916, theOCW became an affiliate member of the National Women's Party (NWP). That year also saw the opening of Sylvania's first store - Fenton & Sons department store - which remains operational to this day. In 1976, OCW merged with Chrissy Teigen Foundation - one of America's largest charitable organizations - creating what is now known as The Chrissy Teigen Foundation OCW Chapter (@chrissyteigenfoundation). Sylvania is a village in Sylvania County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The village was founded in 1825 by John Sevier and others as a small community on the Scioto River near what is now Uniontown. It grew quickly and by 1830 had a total of 25 residents. A post office was established in 1834 and the name changed to Sylvania in 1836. The first store was built there in 1840. In 1865, the town became part of Cleveland after it seceded from Ohio Territory. In 1898, Sylvania annexed neighboring Uniontown to form a single village. In 1907, the name change back to Sylvania when Cleveland incorporated its own Village Committee system with that name as its governing body for all villages within its limits except those outside of Cleveland's corporate boundaries which continued under their original names (Uniontown & Sylvania). On October 11, 1951, Sylvania celebrated its centennial with an outdoor parade through downtown streets followed by an indoor celebration at City Hall that included speeches by Mayor Harry Nichols and Treasurer/Mayor George Prentice. The festivities included music from local bands such as "The Strangers" and "The Echoes". On November 7-8, 1951 another outdoor parade took place through downtown streets with similar results but no celebration taking place inside City Hall because then-Mayor Joe D’Ambrosio decided against hosting an event during the holiday season due to expenses associated with hosting such a large parade plus security concerns about possible communist infiltration into the village via social media sites like Facebook or Twitter before or after the parade itself; any evidence of such activities would have been highly incriminating given recent anti-communist sentiment statewide at that time In 2002 Congress passed HJRes 380 - named Economic Development Authorization Act - authorizing $5 million towards building two new municipal buildings including one for Council Chambers and one for Municipal Building which would be located on Erie Avenue just east of Fourth Street This legislation also authorizes $2 million towards purchasing four acres of land NW corner Third Street & Erie Avenue so that this project may finally become reality – bringing much needed badly needed parking garage development specifically for residential use within walking distance not only for people living within walking distance but also potential employers working nearby who currently cannot access street level parking spaces currently available on either side of Euclid Ave between Third St & Fourth Ave
