The history of marine gifts in Struthers, Ohio begins with the arrival of Commodore John C. Stroud on board the USS Constitution on May 12, 1846. Commodore Stroud was leader of a group of American officers who sailed to England to explore the British Isles and make new friends. He brought back a large number of beautiful sea shells and other items as souvenirs for his crew and passengers. The visit also led to the development of maritime trade in Struthers. In 1849, Captain Amos Prentice built a wharf on the south side of town and began shipping goods from Struthers to Cincinnati via ship. In 1865, J F White started shipping food products from Struthers to Cleveland. This gave rise to another important maritime activity inStrUThers-the establishment of a harbor by means of which goods could be unloaded and transported across town without having to go through prolonged traffic jams caused by various warehouses located on both sides of the river (Kleinwasser Harbor). As StrUThers grew more developed, so too did its maritime offerings-including an informal dock where fishermen could loading their nets while awaiting fishing licenses from state officials; a store that sold supplies such as clotheslines, anchors, buoys, hawsers and other fishing gear; and a pub/lounge called The Horseshoe that served refreshments during longshoreman's hours (5 p.m.-midnight). Struthers, Ohio is a small town in central Ohio. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Eastern edge of the greater Cincinnati metropolitan area and is east of Dayton. The settlement began as a fishing village known as "Struther's Landing" on the Scioto River in 1795. Struther's Landing was situated on a bluff overlooking the river and attracted traders and settlers from southeastern Pennsylvania, New York, and Kentucky. By 1825, Struther's Landing had grown to include a schoolhouse, store, tavern, and three lots for sale. In that year,strutherstown was laid out according to an ordinance passed by the General Assembly of Upper Ohio County. In 1828 Struther's Landing became part of what would become Hamilton Township when it was organized from parts of Scioto Township and Delaware Township. The population of Hamilton township reached nine hundred by 1830; however, by 1840 it had decreased to five hundred because most residents were farmers who raised livestock or conducted trade operations inland during winter months when water levels were high enough to transport goods across the river but not high enough to support crops. A millinery shop started up in Strutter's Landing in 1845; however, despite its early success it failed within two years due to competition from mills built downstream along the Scioto River. By 1850 only a few yards of shoreline remained above water level for shipping purposes so commercial fishing ceased entirely; consequently about one-third of all strutterstown’s original population could no longer be found within its boundaries over time. However business continued ashore through ferry service until 1957 when strutterstown lost its ferry connection with Cincinnati after being merged into Cincinnati proper as part of city government reorganization followingurban growth in that city during this period (see also: Dearborn Heights). All that remains today except for some foundations are evidence that buildings once stood here including a log cabin used as barracks by military forces stationed here during World War II which indicate that at one time there must have been significant civilian activity associated with this community which may have persisted even beyond its loss of maritime transportation links (see: History buffs interested in exploring STRUTHER'S LANDING - A STRUTHER'S HARBOR COMMUNITY FOUNDATION STORY FOR KIDS ). On November 6th 1860 AndrewSTRUTHERS died suddenly while attending his brother’s wedding at nearby Bellevue Grove Hotel.. He leaves behind two unmarried sisters aged 10yrs old & 11yrs old named SARAH & SALLY .. Both sisters are still living their lives today

Struthers, Ohio is a small town in the northwestern part of the United States. It was founded in 1812 by John Struther and his wife Deborah. The town has a population of about 2,500 people today. John Struther and his wife Deborah first established themselves in what is now the town of Wrightstown, Pennsylvania. In 1812 they moved to what is now Struthers, Ohio after purchasing land from the Monongahela River tribe. They named their new home "Struthers" after their home country of Scotland. The Struths ran a successful general store for many years and were instrumental in helping to establish Struthers as a village. The Stulterers also donated land for schools and churches in the community. Over time, the town came to be known for its lace manufacturing industry and its annual Strawberry Festival which includes art contests, food booths, and music performances.
Struthers, Ohio was founded in 1795 by Daniel Struthers. The town was named for him. Daniel Struthers was a pioneer and the first settler in the area. He built a small cabin near what is now Struthersville on the Scioto River. In 1814, he married Rachelle Fields and they began to farm in the area. They also operated a sawmill and gristmill in the community. In 1827, they moved to their present location and began to grow crops. They also built a new home there. Daniel Struther's death resulted in his wife's becoming head of household and she continued to run the house until her death in 1892. After her death, their son Ezra took over running the house until it was sold out to Joseph Fenton in 1907.
