Strongsville is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River between Cleveland and Akron. In 1814 Governor Nicholas Nickles issued a proclamation that all white males over 21 must leave Ohio within three months or be enrolled in military service under Congress’ War Department Act of 1812 which called for volunteers to help suppress Indian attacks on frontier settlements across the United States including those along the Scioto River watershed. The large number of men required to leave created some tension among local farmers who saw their farms taken away before they had a chance to build them back up again; however, most men complied with Governor Nickles’ order. largely because German immigrants had settled nearby and because transportation was difficult to come by then, few African Americans lived in Strongsville until after World War II when African American soldiers began arriving for military service beginning in 1945 as part of President Truman’s strategy for integrating America’s armed forces into one integrated whole . On July 1, 1870, weak earthquake shocks killed many people living near Akron due to extensive damage done by slides caused by an earlier earthquake about two weeks earlier that killed no one but destroyed dozens of buildings downtown and widespread damage throughout much of eastern Ohio due both earthquakes!
