Strongsville is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Holmes County. The population was 51,814 at the 2010 census, making it the 8th-largest city in Ohio and one of its 11 metropolitan areas. The Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area has a population of 1,545,489. Strongsville is known for its natural gas production and processing plants as well as for its annual robust agricultural festivals which include the State Fairgrounds Agricultural Show on October 6–10 and the Highland Festival on November 4–7. The first settlers in what is now Strongsville were farmers who arrived in 1792 from Virginia. They named their community after George Washington's father-in-law, James Hardesty. In 1805, John Green bought land east of present day Strongsville from Nicholas Pomeroy for $1 million dollars. He founded Green Gas Company which became one of America's largest natural gas producers and marketers before he died in 1902. In 1886, J C Beecham established Beecham Rubber Company with his brother Charles Beecham that eventually became Tyvek Corporation In 1907, Cyrus McCormick merged his McCormick Manufacturing Company with United States Rubber Co to form United States Rubber Company (USR). USR started producing rubber products including tires and shoes throughout northeastern Ohio until 1958 when it merged with Goodyear Tire & Rubber to become Goodyear Tire & Rubber Corporation (GTP). GTP continued producing products under several different names until 1987 when it merged with Firestone Tire & Wheel to become Firestone Tires Corporation (FTX). From 1987 through 2000, FTX was owned by Bridgestone corporation before being sold to Michelin company effective January 1st 2001 In 1940, American Legion Post #529 erected a 20 foot high statue of Liberty located at corner Main Street and West Side Highway near today's airport runway which remains an active tourist attraction today . The statue was dedicated by Mayor Edward L White On July 2nd 1945 local resident Clarence Saunders donated a two story home on Valentine Drive which served as a temporary housing camp during World War II for soldiers desiring to remain close to home rather than fight overseas . On August 14th 1948 Local resident Forrest Hargrave donated an acre lot at 272 North Shore Road adjacent to today’s strongsville fire station site into whose farmhands had constructed hogsheads filled with gathering rain water used for watering horses on nearby cornfields

Strongsville is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Canton–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1811 by Captain John Strong and his family as a Mechanicsville settlement on the west side of the Scioto River near what is now Centerville. In 1816, Captain John Strong and his wife Anna moved their family to Strongsville from Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania because they were unhappy with life there. Anna died in 1816 and John Strong raised their children here until his death in 1824. He bequeathed all of his land to the town after he passed away. The first store opened in 1865 in what is now called "The Old Store". At that time it was one of only two stores open for business in Strongsville during that time period! The other store was built by Elisha Jones some years later and became known as "The New Store." In 1906, a new frame school building was added to the original structure which served as our current school house until it burned down in 1961! That same year also saw the opening of our first post office which continued operation until 1963 when we moved into our present building! We are grateful for all that has come since then – including four schools (grades K-12), two churches (Church of Christ & United Methodist), three businesses (one full-time, one part-time), six residences (four single occupancy, two multi occupancy), and five water systems (three full-time, one part-time)! Today, strongsville boasts a rich history dating back over 200 years! With so much to offer residents culturally as well as economically, you can be sure that your stay will be something special! From its vibrant downtown district filled with art galleries and restaurants to its beautifully landscaped streetscape complete with charming homespun shops and services such as cemeteries dotting its landscape - everything makes for an exciting visit here!
