Streetboro, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Kent County. The population was 26,853 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Streetboro was part of what was called French Township until it was named for General James Wilkinson in 1821. Streetboro took its name from John Fayette Street which ran through it and led to the nearby town of Knoxville, Tennessee. Streetsboro became a borough in 1892 and then City Hall was built in 1909 on the current site of City Hall Park before being replaced by its current building in 1957.

The Marine Gift History Project is an electronic resource for historians of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The project began in 1978 as the Naval Historical Branch's Research Library Inventory ofShip and Aircraft Gifts to the U.S. Navy (SHAG). It was revised and enlarged in 1987 as the Naval History Museum's Gallery of Ships and Aircraft Gifts, which remains its primary focus today. The SHAG collection grew out of research on gift history by members of the Naval Historical Branch staff. Many naval officers who were important during World War II or later served as donors to various branches of our military, so it was natural that they should be included in the study of naval gift history. A few years earlier, however, there had been little systematic collecting done on this topic by navy personnel themselves. In 1978 a group of us at NHH gathered all types of unpublished materials on naval gift history, organized them into topical folders, and started storing them in our research library’s Special Collections Department until we could find a place for them all! We decided then to call our new project “The SHAG Collection: Ship and Aircraft Gifts to the United States Navy During World War II” (later renamed The Gallery of Ships and Aircraft Gifts). Since those early days there have been many changes within NHH itself – most notably when Dr. James Fenton took over as Director in 2003 – but the basic premise has always been to collect ship and aircraft gifts from United States navies both past and present so that their story can be told more fully across generations. Today we continue this work with an online platform where users can search through specific categories or browse through images representing different eras; you can even watch videos about individual donations or events from within our archive!
