Stow, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about northwest of Cleveland on the shore of Lake Erie. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. In 1836, John Prentice built a sawmill on Little Beaver Creek which served as the main artery into town until1850 when a road was built bypassing it. The mill closed in 1888 but minor alterations to its facade remain evident today on Elm Avenue near Park Boulevard which runs through downtown Stow along what once was its riverfront cornfield boundaries; this remnant is also home to local historical museums including Pioneer Village Museum (founded in 1865), Coxsackie House Museum (opened in 1978), and Butler County Historical Society Building No. 1 (built 1886).
