Dick Moretti was instrumental in bringing modernisuon to artisan coffee through his ownership of Wilkinson's Cafe along with his other businesses such as Moretti Bros., Moretti Pizza Kitchen, and Moretti Liquor Store*. The town grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of 350 residents. By 1840, it had become an agricultural center with over 100 businesses. In 1846, the name was changed to Cleveland after President James K. Polk's visit to that city United States Congress building in that year.

The population was 5,876 at the 2010 census. The village of Stow was founded in 1811 by John Stephenson and others as a stop on stagecoach routes from Cincinnati to Steubenville and back. In 1837, a post office called Stow was established, but it did not remain in operation until 1892. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.9 km²), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 6,691 people, 2,543 households, and 1,877 families residing in the town. The population density was 922 people per square mile (351/km²). There were 3,898 housing units at an average density of 409 per square mile (159/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97% White , 1% African American , 0% Native American , 0% Asian , 1% from other races , and 1% from two or more races . Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 2%

In 1814, Stow moved his business to what is now Bridgeport, Ohio and became one of the first dealers in pork products in that town. The Post Office at Stow was established in 1819. In 1825, George Biddle founded the first bank in Bridgeport and served as its president until his death in 1840. The townspeople elected James Prentice as their first city councillor in 1828. In 1830, they voted to secede from Hamilton County and formed a new township, which became today's Ohiopyle Township.
