The Springfield Armory, commonly known as the Armory, was a firearms manufacturer in the United States from 1828 to 1903. The company was founded by Nicholas Brady and Jacob Brown in 1828. From 1868 to 1903, the Armory produced rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln called for an all-out war against slavery in the American Civil War. Withdrawing Confederate forces from Kentucky left Springfield with an abundance of arms and munitions; Brady & Brown became one of America's leading gun manufacturers. In 1898, Springfield became part of Ohio after statehood. The company continued manufacturing firearms until 1903 when it closed its doors. The Armory's production history is reflective of American culture at large: from its early days as a small brick-and-mortar shop in downtown Springfield to its long association with guns and ammunition; from its productspeeze (rifle cartridges) that amused Queen Victoria during her visits to America in 1876 to its famous "Broom Holmes" revolvers which have been used by both law enforcement officers and Hollywood stars throughout history; from the high-quality firearms that it created for everyday citizens to those used by professional shooters such as John Moses Jacks (the first person ever shot while practicing marksmanship), Bob Hope (who employed two guns on stage), and Harry Houdinis (whose escape performance featured a knife fight with three gunmen); throughto today's models made at the Armory including domestic concealed carry handguns as well as military assault rifles.

Springfield, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is the county seat of Clark County and is located on the Scioto River. The population was 61,853 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Clark County after Toledo and Cleveland. The first permanent settler in what would become Springfield was John Claflin, who founded a small community on the Scioto River in 1796. In 1811, General Nicholas Murray Butler moved his headquarters from Cincinnati to Springfield because he felt that its location on the river made it an ideal military and administrative center for central Ohio. The town became a part of Ohio Territory when that territory was created in 1813. When Presley came to America in 1837 and became president of Mexico, he decided to permanently move his headquarters from Nashville to Springfield so as not to leave any potential successors behind should he die before taking office. From 1851 until 1861, Springfield was served by two mayors: Elijah Hicks (1851-55) and Arent Davenport (1861-65). In 1870, when Dayton became the capital of Ohio, Springfield became its second city; both cities are now part of Columbus, Ohio. By 1910 there were over 60 businesses operating in downtown Springfield alone; this number had grown to more than 300 by 1930! There has been no major economic decline or displacement since then other than occasional fluctuations due to changing industry or technological advancements which have generally outgrown local capabilities or resources - one example being online shopping services such as Amazon which have overwhelmed smaller malls throughout America with their scale and reach! This corporate structure gave rise to several landmark landmarks such as USSC Tower and Smithfield Foods Inc.'s factory campus. The city also saw rapid growth in professional sports during this time - including football (the first American football league) club teams like Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds, as well as basketball (the first professional Men’s Professional Basketball League) team the Dayton Gems. However, World War II eventually derailed these efforts; however, old industrial sites survived into postwar years as warehouses for companies such as GEICOand JCPenney stores1 . In recent decades,Springfield has seen steady suburbanization – with more people moving into areas near schools or freeways rather than downtown neighborhoods2 . Despite this change in scenery, however, most residents continue identify strongly with their hometown3 . There are a few exceptions: one group of people continues to live at historic Butler Manufacturing Company Warehouse on Hoyt Avenue4 ; another group has redeveloped much of downtown into mixed-use buildings5 ; while still others maintain close ties to their roots through community organizations6
