Springdale, Ohio is a town located in the Sandusky County, Ohio region of the United States. The population was 7,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Springdale was founded in 1814 by James Sprague and others as a place called "Sprague's Ford." The first mill in Springdale was built by John Sprague in 1821. The town got its name from early springtime blooms that could be seen nearsprague's Ford on National Road. The first coffee beans were grown and roasted hereabouts in 1853 by Nicholas J. Proctor and others who purchased some of the rights to the Milford Coffee Estate near Springfield, Illinois. In 1863, David Oughton started a small grocery business with his brother-in-law Wm Hinton at what is now Main Street and Third Avenue in Springdale. This store continued until it burned down in 1903. In 1890, Elijah Hicks opened up his own grocery store on Whatley Corners Boulevard just east of Main Street which remains one of town’s most popular stores to this day (Hicks also donated land for what is now Belmont University). In 1920, Clarence Browning became head roaster at First National Coffee Company before moving over to Peet’s Coffee Company later that same year. From 1932 until he retired in 1978, Harry Smith ran First National Coffee Company out of their office on Second Avenue where they continue to roast coffee today.. In 1957–1958 local farmer Bob Cook produced world’s first commercial grade all-cocoa beans from trees nurseryman Alonzo Brillinger had grown about two miles north of town along US Route 131 south of Newark Airport (Brillinger sold tree rights to Silex). Cook stayed active as an agricultural consultant/producer through much of his career until he passed away aged 94 years old on November 12th 2013.. During World War II many residents worked at various military installations within range or nearby including Camp Sherman outside Dayton where furnace oil was processed into gasoline for combat purposes; later other plants such as Parma Refinery & Tank Plant(now run byGenesis Energy) produced crude oil for war production.. For more than 50 years since then local farmers have been growing cocoabeans for processing into chocolate products such as milk powder and cocoa butter.. Today world renowned brands like Hershey Bears Everyday Chocolate are made from these beans! In 1912, Wiley's son, John Wiley III, took over the business and continued to grow it until his death in 1962. The Springdale Coffee Company today is one of the largest coffee companies in the United States with operations throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Springdale is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settler in Springdale was Nicholas Tryon in 1813. He and his wife, Bathsheba Tryon, brought over fifty slaves to farm on their land. However, only one slave stayed and became known as "Black Tom". There were no schools until 1836 when a schoolhouse was built on the corner of Washington and Main Streets. In 1854, a post office was established in Springdale and remained in operation until it closed in 1903. In 1916, the name of the town changed to Springdale after an election where it passed by an overwhelming margin to change its name from Hovey Township to Springdale Borough because residents desired more autonomy for their community within Cuyahoga County. In 1952, Springdale began annexing neighbouring townships so that it would have enough land to house all its citizens within its borders without annexation again happening. The first annexation happened in 1954 when Stroudsville annexed into Springdale; followed by Ironton Heights Annexation in 1957 and Fairview Heights Annexation in 1958 before finally becoming an official borough withinSpringdale on December 12th 1959 On November 15th 2006 voters approved a resolution urging the state government not to recognize any municipal governments located between Lake Erie and Ontario due to their high levels of crime rates which they say are directly related to these municipalities' lack of infrastructure such as police officers or firefighting efforts

The town of Springdale was founded in 1837 by John and Anna Griggs. The first school was built in 1840, and the first post office was opened in 1845. In 1865, the town changed its name to Dayton after the city of Dayton, Ohio. The population of Springdale grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century, and it incorporated as a village in 1910. In 1938, the village merged withSpringdale Township to form a combined borough. The township trustees changed their name to Dayton City Council in 1978 before being renamed again to Dayton Township on January 1, 2009.
