The United States Army deployed gift history in Springdale, Ohio during World War I. The town was an important military and supply center located on the edge of a large forested area that served as the primary training ground for American troops during the war. The town was also home to a significant number of artillery batteries and other military installations. Gift history in Springdale began in 1866 when Major General John Custer died in action at Little Bighorn. His body was brought back to Springfield, Missouri where it was interred with general officers from throughout America. In 1893, General Nelson A. Miles became the first U.S. commander in chief to visitSpringdale and dedicate a park in honor of Custer and his units who had fought at Gettysburg two years earlier. The town's role as a major training ground continued into World War I and after the war ended, many of the buildings used by the Army were sold or Abandoned to private individuals or businesses. However, some of these buildings still stand today including headquarters building for Third Infantry Division (later called First Infantry Division), Springdale Armory, Armoury Museum and several churches which remain active cultural institutions today including All Saints Episcopal Church (founded 1865) and Saint John’s Episcopal Church (founded 1892). During World War II,Springdale again saw its importance as a military supply center due to its location on Route 66 just north of Dayton Airport which made it easily accessible by truckloads of munitions needed for Operation Overlord In 1945, following the end of World War II, Springdale became part of the newly formed Cleveland-Akron-Canton Region School District #2 Since then there has been considerable redevelopment taking place within Springdale with new housing developments being built along routes 66 and 71 as well as new commercial properties being developed near Stroud Road exit 13A Today there are over 50 business owners operating within Springdale with nearly 2 dozen restaurants serving local cuisine including various Chinese/Japanese restaurants located along Routes 66/71; Fountain Square Shopping Center anchors this mixed use development; several professional services businesses have opened up such as chiropractor care clinic (opened 1978), real estate agent office (opened 1984), law firm office (opened 1990) among others; additional commercial properties have been constructed such as multiplex theater complex opened in 2000 adjacent to Fountain Square Shopping Center; numerous smallaneyplexes have also been constructed providing more than enough space for retailers . This growing population is now creating commuter traffic issues typical of any larger city . Despite this growth however, many residents continue to live close to their homes making it easy to get around without having too much trouble getting around while living close but not sharing one street footpath with neighboring properties

Springdale is a city in and the county seat of Warren County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,936 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Middletown, OH Combined Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Springdale were French traders and explorers in 1795. They named it "Fayetteville" after General George Washington's birthplace in Virginia. A post office was founded here on May 10, 1806, under the name of "Fayetteville." The original plat for Springdale included land that now forms part of Akron. In 1814, Colonel John Cushing erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street in Springdale. It became known as the Cushings Cabin because he had bought it from Joseph Sprague for $800 dollars in 1807. The first store opened here in 1815 by Jethro Gibbs and his brother-in-law Isaac Dennison with two rooms and a kitchenette upstairs and four downstairs. In 1830, David Ziegler acquired land at this site for $2 million which he used to build what is today downtown Springdale into an independent town center with 5 blocks of commercial space including five banks (the present City Hall building was built there in 1924), three hotels (the Germania Hotel built1856-60 and enlarged by architects Meyer & Sons), two churches (the First CongregationalistChurch built1837-41and enlarged by architect Trumbull & Myers) and numerous other businesses including four sawmills plus twenty mule farms that gave rise to the name "The Quadrangle". When this area became too urbanized for farmers to maintain their operation or when railroad travel made agriculture less desirable than transporting goods over long distances, many small businesses closed down during the late 1800s such as one miller who operated until 1912 using six water wheels powering twelve tractors; another small business continued operating until 1938; still others converted to apartments or light manufacturing during this time frame before eventually folding up shop altogether around 1960 when Interstate 76 came through town creating even more demand for local manufactured items not easily transported away anymore like radios etc.; however some Exceptionally well managed familyowned shops have been exceptions throughout history whether they be rug storesOprah Winfrey’s Osage Hills home has been marketed as a “historic house†since 1978 while her mothership Sears Roebuck occupied 1/3rdinterestin DowntownSpringdale from 1984 until its closure 2003 also most notably Widespread’s restaurant across from PNC park closed 2009). In 1906 Mayor James Kapp organized a citizens committee which developed plans for developing Springdale into an Ideal Townsite which included streetscape improvements such as turning curves at intersections making streets wider where necessary instead of narrow where possible; addingsidewalks along major thoroughfares; grading Streets so traffic could flow unimpeded instead of being turned around at tight corners; widening alleys between residential areas; building public buildings such as schools, libraries and industry complexes within walking distance rather than having them located further out providing increased accessibility especially to low income families; erecting telephone poles adjacent to streetlightsinsteadof large powerlines just meters away giving pedestrians ample warning about approaching cars oncoming onto their streetside thereby reducing accidents caused by drivers running into pedestrian crossings without knowing these signals are there On November 12th 1907 voters approved an amendment imposing term limits on Mayor Kapp prohibiting him from holding office beyond December 31st 1908 setting the limit at 4 years despite continuing popular support due to his efforts during his final year ; Atty Genl Harrison fined Mr Kapp $500 cashfor violating election law By doing so he effectively ended any possibility MrKapp would have run for reelection after serving 3 full years With no chance given then or ever since Mrs Haas steps down effective immediately 2nd Amendment Park opens beside Federal Courthouse meaning residents can no longer shoot arrows inside museum without getting permits . This action would finally close off all open hunting seasons within city limits). This legislation effectively ended any hope MrKap had of returning after serving 3 full years but Mrs Haas remains active politically playing various roles within city government ever since serving 2 terms consecutively ). After leaving office Mayor Kapp established himself as an investment banker living near University Circle outside OFC ); later moving back inside OFC following prostate cancer diagnosis ) In 1916 Captain Harry Hines assumed command again Troops leave For Spanish American War From here they returned home On September 11th 1918 Camp Chesterfield reopened receiving recruits arriving October 15th 1918 . Springdale was platted in 1807 as a town named for Governor James K. Polk of Ohio. The first post office opened in 1809, and the first settler to arrive was John Hanks from Connecticut in 1810. The community grew quickly due to its location on the Scioto River, which made it an important stop on riverboats transporting goods between Cincinnati and Cleveland. In 1827, Springdale became part of the new state of Ohio, and by 1830 had a population of 350 people. In 1836, when Ohio became a territory of Indiana Territory, Springdale lost its status as a town but continued to grow because of its proximity toIndiana's major city Indianapolis.
