The Brownes roasted their own beans and sold them from their shop on the corner of State and Market streets. By 1830, Browne had opened a second café, which continued to serve coffee until 1907. In 1865, John Henschel opened a grocery store on Depot Street near the present day Springboro High School in town. This store served as an important hub for the local coffee trade and played an important role in developing the local economy. In 1971, Springboro's first Starbucks was open on Elm Street near State Street. Since then, Starbucks has become one of the most popular cafes in town with over twenty-four stores across Ohio and Pennsylvania.) The history of coffee roasting is intertwined with that ofSpringboro itself. Springboro is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2010 census. Springboro is part of the Cleveland–Warren–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Springboro was John Winchester from Worcester, England in 1792. He and his family came overland through Indiana Territory to the area that would become Muskingum County in 1813. In 1814 he and other settlers organized the village of Springboro under the name of New Athens. The first school was built there in 1815 by teacher James Whitehead and students from neighboring townships. By 1830 the village had a full-time schoolmaster and 30 students. In 1840 Springfield Township formed out of parts of Muskingum and Ottawa Twp., including Springboro Village and parts of New Athens Township. That year Springfield also erected a courthouse with a jail as its cornerstone. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), Union soldiers burned down much commercial property around springboro during their March 1863 raid seeking supplies for General Ulysses S Grant's army marching into Kentucky to help put down Confederate raids across that state. This raid is known as "The Raid on Springboro". In 1865 when Union troops withdrew from Kentucky they left behind many destroyed homes and businesses includingSpringboro Village which had been abandoned by its occupants moments before the raid occurred; it became one of several communities within Muskingum County hardest hit by war-related destruction including Orchard Hills (now Richfield) which lost 80% of its buildings including most churches; Marble Hill declined so drastically that only two blocks remain standing today; Miami Heights also lost most if not all buildings but has been restored to some degree as a community museum). After Reconstruction resumed in America following World War II, many former slaveholders moved back into rural areas due to new economic opportunities brought about by technological advances such as television sets and automobiles etc.; however, few former slaves settled permanently withinMuskingum County after Reconstruction ended; this changed with newly arrived African Americans who founded large concentrations throughout central Ohio beginning in earnest during World War II until eventually becoming almost completely assimilated into local white society over time - see "African American migration" below for more detail about this process). After years of searching by various civic organizations spearheaded by Mayor Tom Fenton (1936-1972), between 1959 and 1962 an important piece of history was added to downtown Springton when $1 million dollars was raised from private donors via an advertising campaign entitled "Ohio's Most Dynamic City – A History Presentation" which culminated with Mayor Fenton unveiling a plaque commemorating that event on November 5th, 1960 at approximately 6pm while business owners were present at Main Street Square adjacent to Statehouse grounds where President John F Kennedy spoke soon afterwards about progress being made since then both inside and outside America Regarding Racial Equality issues - very significant day indeed! Springborough trustees voted unanimously on December 7th, 1966 to rename their town unto "Springborough" after then Governor Robert Hennigan citing growing support among residents for doing so following votes cast earlier that year at two special Town Meeting Specials held pursuant thereto viz.: One Held On December 3rd And One Held On January 9th junketing public sentiment thereby allowing those proceedings tape recordable for future reference although no written records survive thereof other than minutes/votes taken & recorded therein without commentary or analysis having any bearing whatsoever upon question or discussion arising therein...the vote tally stands thus: Tom Fenton - 38 Yes – George Cagle - 2 No’s

By 1860, Springboro had more than 12,000 residents. In 1871,Springboro seceded from the United States and formed its own country, the United States of America (USA). The city's economy declined during Reconstruction era until it fared better after World War II.
