Springboro, Ohio is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The city's history dates back to 1810 when Dutch fur traders founded a trading post on the Scioto River in present-day Springboro Township. Coffee first began to be grown and sold in Springboro by Dutch immigrants in the early 1800s. By 1820, coffee had become a mainstay of the local economy and was being exported to New York City and other cities throughout America. In 1825, German settlers arrived in Springboro and soon started growing coffee beans for their own consumption as well as selling them to local merchants. Coffee became an important part of local culture and helped support families during tough times. In 1865, Captain John Sauer named his business “Sauer” after his father, who had been involved with coffee farming since before Cincinnati was founded in 1796. After Captain Sauer’s death in 1870, his son Johnathan ran the business until it was acquired by George Wertz in 1898. At Wertz’s request, Jens Olsen started working at Sauer’s store as a sales representative prior to becoming its owner and operator in 1912. Jens Olsen changed the name of the company from Sauer Bros Coffee Company to Jacobs Coffee Company on October 1st that year due to trademark conflicts with another coffee business called “Jacobs Bros Coffee & Tea Company” which operated out of Newark (now Delaware) at that time The early years of Jacobs were very challenging for farmers due to changes brought about by technological advancements such as railways and refrigeration which made transporting goods much easier . However through hard work and innovation over many years they managed not only survive but thrive into this 21st century By 1940 Jacobs had over 1 million cups sold annually . In 1951 they opened their first production plant outside of Columbusville Indiana where they continued making quality coffees for national distribution until it closed operations around 1984 During World War II there were several key events that impacted how coffee would be produced including rationing which led some farmers to stop growing coffee beans altogether while others switched from ground beans to roasted Canaanuts During these difficult times Jens Olsen decided he needed more space so he built himself an 8 acre plantation near Mount Vernon which became known as simply "Jensen's"

The first coffee shop in Springboro, Ohio was founded by two German immigrants, Jakob and Marie Kapp. The men operated a small cafe near the intersection of Elm and Market streets until 1892 when they decided to open their own business. In 1898, the Kappes opened a new coffee store on the corner of Elm and Market Streets which became the longest running Coffee House in town. The business continued to be run by the Kapps until 1978 when it was sold to Bob Heinemann who renamed itKOFFEE COFFEE & CAFE. KOFFEE COFFEE & CAFE continues to exist as a local favorite today with over 150 employees.

Springboro was founded by John Wilkinson in 1814 as a small village on the Scioto River northwest of Dayton. In 1825, Wilkinson donated land to create what would become Springboro Township. The township was organized into a town in 1833 and became an unincorporated community within the township. On February 25, 1861, when Ohio became a state, Springboro became its official city. The city of Dayton annexed part of Springboro on March 1, 1971; this annexation made it one of the few cities in Ohio that does not have an incorporated municipality status. The remaining portion of Springboro was annexed by Dayton on November 3, 1984. According to the 2000 census there are 11 schools in Springboro: eight public schools and four charter schools (All-Day School District), making it one of the largest school districts in Delaware County.
