South Euclid is a small village in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,552 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area. The first settlers in South Euclid were three men from Delaware who arrived on horseback in 1812. They named their land "Euclid" after the Greek mathematician and astronomer Ptolemy (c. 100 BC). The village was platted in 1836 by John Sills as part of the Township of North Euclid. The name stuck and today it remains an unincorporated community within Hamilton County with a ZIP code of 45236. The first post office was established at South Euclid on July 10, 1837, and remained in operation until it closed on December 15, 1955. John Mapes served as president pro tempore of the Ohio Senate from 1907 to 1909 and as speaker pro tempore from 1915 to 1917; he also served as mayor from 1923 to 1925. In 1932 Drayton Sweeting became state treasurer for Ohio when Franklin D Roosevelt was elected president; during his tenure Sweeting offered free groceries to low-income families through Operation Shopper's Helper which lasted until 1933 because he could not find enough qualified applicants for his position due to tight job market conditions at that time. In 1937 Union Carbide purchased land adjoining South Euclid so that they could build a refinery there; however this project never came to fruition because union members refused to work at a strike- Certified Organic produce started being sold near South Euclid during this time which increased demand for local produce but eliminated competition with large corporate farms

South Euclid is a small town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,645 at the 2010 census. It lies along the Erie Canal and is part of the Cleveland-Akron metropolitan area. South Euclid was founded in 1817 by settlers who were escaping religious persecution in Hungary. The town was named for John South Euclid, an Englishman who had been living in Hungary since 1795. When he died in 1817, his family donated land to the town to establish it as a permanent settlement. The first store was built on Main Street in 1821. In 1830, the town incorporated and became one of the ten townships of Mahoning County. In 1836, a school was built near what is now the entrance to Park Avenue and Center Boulevard (the present day site of South Euclid High School). That year also saw the opening of First National Bank and Trust Company which has continued to operate until today. Other significant events during that time include: 1839 when Poverty Point Iron Works opened; 1846 when Wiley Furniture Manufacturing Co., one of Cleveland's largest furniture companies, began operations; 1868 when First Methodist Episcopal Church (now known as Our Lady Of Fatima) was built; 1901 when Second National Bank or "The People's Trust" became one of America's larger banks; and – most notably – 1932 when Henry Ford opened his first car dealership here.
In 1812, the Ohio Territory was created from part of the Northwest Territory. The territory included most of what is now Cleveland and other parts of northeastern Ohio. In 1813, the United States Congress passed the General Allotment Act, which allowed for land purchases in the new territory. The first purchase was in 1815, when U.S. President James K.
