Solon, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the American Midwest. It has a proud history dating back to 1824, when it was named for Solomon Northup, an American Revolutionary War veteran and settler. The population of Solon was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It ranks third in size among communities in Summit County (the county seat) and second among all towns in Summit County behind Delaware City. Solon is also home to two schools: Macedonia Elementary School which serves 3-5th grade students inside of Macedonian Middle School while continuing through high school; as well as Stroudsburg High School which serves 8th-12th grades inside of Stroudsburg Middle School while continuing through college level courses at Akron University. One of the most significant industries that Solon has seen over time are its manufacturing jobs; however there have also been many other recent additions such as retail development along with new housing developments throughout townspeople have been working hard to keep up with changing needs within their community while preserving its historical values

In 1803, a group of Latter-day Saints called the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" arrived in what is now Solon, Ohio. They started a farm there and built a church. The first president of the LDS Church was Brigham Young.
