Solon, Ohio is a town in Perry County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,988 as of the 2010 census. It celebrated its centennial in 2017. According to the 2010 census, Solon has a total area of , of which is land and (1.2%) is water. The first settler in Solon Township was John Prentice on November 6, 1811. The first post office in Solon Township was established on December 3, 1814. The township would be organized one year later on January 1, 1915 by an act of the legislature. In 1870 Solon had a population of just under 100 people and no schoolhouse until it opened in 1871 with instruction from Jno Hines at his home "Pioneering School". From there until it closed in 1965 (due to arson), the school offered morning and afternoon classes for children between the ages of 5 and 16 years old; afternoon classes for students up to 19 years old were also available during breaks between morning and afternoon sessions. In 1966Solon became part of the new Athens-Middletown metropolitan area when Athens annexed Perry County eastward from Middletown pursuant to an agreement reached between Mayor James Gandy and then county commissioners Don Klinewitz and Floyd Freeman Jr.. By 1987 population had increased to over 2,000 residents within urban limits only with no annexations taking place due to lack or refusal by other counties within Athens-Middletown boundaries that desired such growth concurrent with their own populations increases - thus creating what is now known as "the city". On July 6th 1990 fire destroyed most all buildings within downtown Toledo after two days long battle by firefighters against intense flames reaching heights up into the 30'000' range; this event marked end of days for downtown Toledo as well as much residential development taking place over these many decades including some highrise apartment buildings constructed since that time around FirstEnergy Park located just north of downtown Toledo off I-75/Highway 421 adjacent Interstate 75

Solon, Ohio is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,070 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1810 by Solomon Phelps and James Morse. It was incorporated as a village in 1833. In 1893, Solon became the county seat of Mahoning County. The townsite of Solon was annexed to the city of Cleveland in 1907. The first settler in what is now Solon Township was Solomon Phelps. He and his family moved from Connecticut to a tract of land on the Scioto River near modern-day Solon in 1810. Phelps and his brother James ran a ferry service between Cleveland and Akron until their business collapsed during the Panic of 1819. They returned to Connecticut but began another ferry service between Cleveland and Akron from their home on Vedder Road northeast of present-day Solon before moving west again around 1830 onto 160 acres (6 hectares) they purchased north of present-day downtown Cleveland where they built a log cabin which served as their home until 1840 when they sold it to John Calkins for $1,000 cash plus interest payments that continued until 1860. That same year, George Washington Carver bought 6 acres (2 hectares) adjacent to Phelps' house for $5 more than what he paid for it two years earlier; this property would later become Carver's biggest farm operation east of the Mississippi River. Another early settler in what is nowSolon Township was Nathaniel Weiser who arrived thereabouts with his family from Lancaster County Pennsylvania about 1800DLI according to one source . For many years Weiser raised corn on his farmstead named after himself - "Nathaniel Weiser's Cornfield". He also farmed tobacco which he shipped downriver aboard boatloads down the Scioto River until about 1840 when he disbanded his farm operation because "the soil had become too rich" for farming purposes only to reestablish crops some time later at an unspecified site near modern daysolonsville . From about 1830 into the 19th century much activity took place along Second Road running through today's downtown area including shops such as Fidelity & Guaranty Bank building at corner 2nd Avenue and Prospect Street opposite current day Stroudsburg Library while other retail businesses soon followed including J H Marts Store building at corner First Avenue North opposite current day Trumbull Library then Sears across 1st Avenue North towards Mentor Mall all operated by merchants who leased space primarily from David Lilienthal who operated several stores including Oneida lace store located just off Third Street Now known as GHS department store
Solon Township was founded in 1827 and named for Solomon Northup, a Revolutionary War soldier who is also buried there. The township was organized as a village in 1837 and renamed Parkersburg in 1868. It became Solon Township in 1887.
