The Ohio National Guard was a mobilization of the state militias of Ohio in time of war or emergency. The organization was created on December 15, 1907 as an act of the Ohio General Assembly. The Guard had three components: the wartime guard force, the Reserve guard force, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1915, the Guard became part of the United States Army and its name changed to Army National Guardsmen. On November 30, 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower organized all national guards units into two divisions—the Continental Army Command Division and United States Army Command Division—and placed them under operational control ofArmy Chief of Staff Headquarters. In 1966–1968 Major General George J. Brown was commandant general for both commands; from 1968 until his retirement in 1984 he also served as acting commandant general when either division commander died or left office. At that time Lieutenant Colonel John Pugh succeeded Brown as commandant general for both divisions with headquarters at Camp David near Washington D.C.. During riots following passage by Congress of a spending bill which represented a fiscal increase over President Lyndon B Johnson's request but without corresponding increases in military funding, Brown called out the National Guard to restore order while federal troops arrived on scene. The event is known as "the night OF Rage." Sharonville is a small town in the northwestern part of Ohio. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Sandusky County seat of Sharon. The town was founded in 1828 and named for John Sharon, an early settler. The first post office opened in 1829. In 1865, Sharonville became a village and had a population of 596. The community disbanded as a village in 1970 but continued to be called Sharonville until its annexation by Sandusky in 2000. In 1830, Quaker Meeting House #2 was built on the east side of Main Street in Sharonville. It served as the home of the town's first meeting and congregation until it burned down in 1833. Sharonville experienced several other incidents that contributed to its name change from "Johnsborough" to "Sharonville." On July 10, 1886, two men were killed when their wagon overturned on US 224 near what is now the library building; their bodies were never recovered and are still unidentified today. This event helped give rise to the nickname "Theopolis" which means city of murdered men (theopolis). On October 15, 1933, local resident Florence Dean set fire to her own house after being accused of stealing food from her grocery store neighbor; this event led to her nickname "Florence Nightingale". Finally, on April 10, 1954 four-year-old Paula Shelton died after falling out of an upstairs window while playing with friends outside her parents' home; this incident helped contribute to the nickname "Pollyanna". All these events made up what is now known as Theopolis's unofficial history lesson about how various towns have been renamed due to unfortunate happenings or feuds between residents or businesses: "How do you make your name?"

Sharonville is a town in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Sharonville was James Brown and his family who arrived in 1797. They built a log cabin on the current site of the community. The town was named after Mrs. Ruth Childress Thomson (1827-1912), one of only two women to serve as Mayor of Akron from 1892 to 1912 and also an accomplished artist and writer. Mrs. Thomson led an effort to rename Sharonville "Canton" after her hometown in England where she grew up before moving to America in 1853 with her parents and siblings. She established herself as an author, Harper's Bazaar columnist and public speaker before death at age 96 years old on May 6, 1912at which time she became the last woman Mayor of Akron - a post that has been held by no other woman since then including current Mayor Bebe Neuman (2002-2003).
Sharonville is a city in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,823 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1836 by John and Martha Shannon as Sharon on the east side of the Monongahela River. It grew rapidly due to wagon trade with nearby Pittsburgh and its natural resources, and by 1860 it had a population of 20,000. In 1872, the City of Sharon merged with Trustee Township to form a new city which continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1960.
