Sharonville is a small town in central Ohio, situated on the banks of the river Muskingum. The population was 3,530 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1824 by colonists from Pennsylvania and originally named Sharonesville Township. It became a separate borough in 1868 and then a city in 1907. During World War II, Sharonville became one of several general aviation communities located within the wartime United States Army Air Forces airbase at Wright-Patterson AFB. The area now occupied by downtown Sharonville was initially developed as an Air Force base housing transient officers and their families until the end of hostilities in 1945; however, most of downtown remained undeveloped until after the war when it was taken over by local businesses and developers who built new commercial districts including Union Terminal Square (now known as Midtown), which contains two large office buildings on Commerce Street between Third Street and Fourth Street NW, and shops on Walnut Ave between Seventh and Eighth Streets NW. Today, Downtown Sharonville retains its historical character with many cultural attractions such as art galleries, museums, restaurants and nightlife options that are popular with locals and visitors alike.

Sharonville is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio and it is the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 2,826 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1811 as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Sharonville became an agricultural center after being developed around a large sawmills and grist mills that were built in the early 1800s. The milltown's heyday came during the 1920s when it had over 100 businesses, but its fortunes changed with prohibition and then World War II as agriculture lost market share to military production. Afterward, Sharonville experienced steady growth through suburbanization and industrial development, culminating in its current form as an upscale community located about 25 miles northwest of Cleveland on Interstate 81/IO 91. The first mention of Sharonville can be found in a deed dated March 10, 1811, from Timothy White to John Nicholson for three hundred acres (12 hectares) of land lying between High Street and Delaware River near present-day Rockside Park. The tract included what are now four blocks east of Main Street (now called Park Avenue). At that time, white settlers were trying to find a route for wagon trains carrying goods south from Philadelphia using what was then known as "the main road" or "the hard road." One possible route followed by white travelers may have been upriver along today's High Street; however, this route was not established until later when new roads were built parallel to the riverbed. Black traders who had already arrived in Sharonesville earlier in the decade brought with them their own markets for buying food and providing passage upstream for boats carrying goods downriver to Cleveland across Lake Erie
Sharonville was founded in 1800 by Captain John Fennimore Richardson and his wife Betsy. The first post office was established in 1802, and the town acquired its current name of Sharonville in 1834. In 1903, the Ohio State Highway 10 bridge was built over the Scioto River, which gave the town its present name.
